Default tires spin at idle

My tires are spinning pretty fast at idle. When I put the brake on the tires dont stop. What adjustments do I need to do? There is a lil bit of fuel coming out of the exhaust.

you might try lowering the idle
if that doesn't work your clutch spring might have gone bad
when you hit the brakes do your wheels slow down at least?

You would have to adjust the low end and make it richer by turning the screw counter-clockwise.
If you find that they keep spinning mo matter what adjustment you make, then your clutch spring could have broke.

you wouldnt want to make it richer if there is fuel coming out of the exhaust, you would want to lean it a little no?? Richen would give it more fuel and make the engine load up and not idle.

Lower the idle, turn the screw at the end of the brake linkage to make it tighter since it should stop the tires from spinning no matter what your idle is.

You don't want to richen up even more if you already have fuel coming out of the exhaust and you don't want to make idle adjustments with the low speed mixture needle...use the idle screw (little screw under the air filter)

My first thoughts are that the throttle trim control is set too high...set that to neutral (center) position and see if the servo is in the centered position first (with controller and receiver ON)...if that all checks out then check the idle speed...turn on the controller and receiver and take off the air filter...look down the throat of the carb...there should be about a 1/8 gap in the throat...if that all checks out it could be your clutch spring...

Let us know!

Just outta curiousity how hard would it be to make a FAQ thread where we address common issues (clutch springs, servo centering, setups etc. etc.)... I got a good digi cam and on occasion have to much time on my hands so a pic by pic type thread could help alot of newcomers solve problems with less flustration.... eh? I've pretty much un-bugged my buggy on everything except fine tuning the engine so perhaps I could be of assistance?

Sounds like a great idea Steve...the only thing is that newbies will STILL start new threads with the same questions over and over again instead of SEARCHING the forums first...LOL!

Can't hurt to try though![8D]

there should be a way to keep it on top like the "sticky" posts, the nitro boat forum has one for balancing and sharpening a prop.

Yeah...I think Darin or one of the mods would have to "sticky" it though...

I don't think us regular ole garden variety low-life posters can do it...LOL.
