i think the hurricane is worth it, much more solid than the other redcats. i like my other redcats too, just the gears. i would suggest to get one, just the xp, i wouldnt spend the money they want for the pro.

i was reading this forum and got a huge laugh out of it...and i was driving in my truck out on a way open highway and got my truck and slightly modded tornado xp to 48mph...so with the right tuning and such it could prolly hit 55-ish if i bought a better engine...which i am considering doing

i could only get 41mph out of my xp, with 20% nitro, i could have leaned it out a bit more probably but didnt want to break the con rod. i was using a radar gun. i dont think the gears could handle a better engine, if you do get the setup popper did on his xp, the hpi clutchbell, i did.

i just now read this thread, and i would have to say that downstroke has some issues, mainly because he comes into a redcat form where most all ppl here support redcat and own them, so then why wopuld we agree with him? hes off his rocker, lol. now if im not mistaken the ad claims that the that the xp can hit 80mph, and why cant it, its called modification. this is a hobby and you can modify your car to hit 80. if im not mistaken again, redcat never said it can do 80mph out of the box like you say, so now who is lieing. also who is to say that your calculations are correct? huh? thats what i thought. who is to say you didnt tune the car right to where it does 80mph, huh? im not saying it can do 80 and im not saying it cant, all i know is i own one and it would kick your buggys *****,lol. This debate is funny, i dont even know why somone would complain about somthing like this. nothing better to do i guess......

Lmao too,Chevy. I know its sucks to ripp the tranny like that. You might want to try the Hpi set up. If not you will just have to get your mesh perfect. I ran about 1 and 1/2 gallons through my first clutchbell and gears. Had to switch the bell out because of to much wear. Then I had all kinds of probs strippin gears. The second bell I put on was really out of round, and I have not ran the car since.[&o] Just to frustrated. Going to get thought x-mas then I am going to get the hpi bell, then problem solved. Hope you get it going soon so you can have some fun. later Greg

OK i'm one of those ppl that got the car thinking it was a really fast car. I didn't think that it would do 80mph but from the way they advertised it I did think that it would keep up with most of the nitro buggys!! I did spend time looking for the right buggy. From how the site ad was wrote i thought that it should atleast come close to the others .... you see 80+ and look at the others telling you 55+ or maybe 60+. This is what I was going for something fast. What I got was a car that got passed up by a 40+ buggy....lol Yes I felt like kicking myself in the butt for buying this buggy or should i say thinking that it would keep up with other buggy's. This was my first nitro buggy and what that tells me on my next nitro buggy, car, truck will not be a redcat . Thay should think about sound time buyers just as much as the first time buyers!! I did read the reviews on http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/a...article_id=683 and I have to say they was way off on the speed of this thing to. Here is a line from this review "While it wasn't hitting Redcat's claimed top end speed of 80MPH, due to the length of the section, I have no doubt it'll top out in that general range after watching it run". So ever if a new person to the nitro world does look and read up on things they still can get side tracked by the mis leading advertising! For my 2 cent worth redcat far mis advertises there products! I feel sorry for the shop owners that sell this thing with 80+ on the box and for everyone else that buys one thinking that thay are gettnig a fast nitro.

danz...the Cane XP has a top speed of somewhere in the high 30s/low 40s.

the SH .28 doesn't make a lotta RPM, it's a torque motor best suited to a monster truck.

BTW I see if you're in xenia....i'm about an hour away from ya

i took those pictures a while ago, the rs4 had the nitro star .15 in it then, i put a motor saver air filter on it and forgot to richen the mixture and i blew the crank and con rod in it and decided to put the os in it. i put that in in the summer.

ORIGINAL: DownStroke

I fully expect this to be removed from this forum because it's probably moderated by the people from Redcat, but there is no way that their buggy runs 80+ mph. Bending the truth is one thing, but this thing wouldn't hit 80+ if you dropped it from an airplane. I did the math and the engine would have to put out about 67,000 rpm to do 80 mph. A REALLY good big block might run in the low 30,000 rpm range, which might push you to the mid 40 mph range. This is blatantly false advertising and I wouldn't be surprised to see someone call your bluff on this. I will not buy a Redcat product as a result of your claims about the performance of your product. I'd bet a lot of money that none of your products even get close to reaching a fraction of the speeds you indicate on your website. I'm doing my best to keep this above the belt, so there are a lot of things I didn't say, but I would surely like an explanation of these grossly exaggerated performance claims.
Do you own A redcat? Have you driven any of them? I am not goin to say good or bad till I do!

LOL that Downstroke quote is exaggerated more than the 80 mph claim and even if he's the best engine tuner and porting expert his math tells me he's to dumb to count. Its not like they all don't do it and that SH28 does just fine a little over 60 mph + it stays together better than some of the others. I'm a fan of the SF32 and it holds together pretty good also. Gads if you want to complain go fight with your wife or something and let these guys discuss problems with out your BS [>:] Theres a lot you can do with gears and tires for speed but not much you can do with a moaning idiot [:'(]
