RE: 80+ MPH?! I don't think so...
i got my volcano to run real close to the same speed as my stock tsunami. i put a hpi 13/18 clutch bell, two speed gear box, hpi header, and assoc. pipe on it and it is alot faster than stock. hits the jumps with authority now. i have a tornado xp, tsunami, and volcano sv, and the volcano is my favorite. it handles much better and is alot easier to control. the tornado xp is the fastest though. im going to get some video tomorrow and i will put it on youtube soon.

I used this online calculator [link=http://wahiduddin.net/calc/calc_speed_rpm.htm]here[/link] and entered in these numbers:
Engine Speed: 35000RPM
Transmission Gear Ratio: 11.71:1
Differential Gear Ratio: 1:1
Loaded Tire Radius: 4.5inches
Vehicle Speed 80MPH
Engine Speed: 35000RPM
Transmission Gear Ratio: 11.71:1
Differential Gear Ratio: 1:1
Loaded Tire Radius: 4.5inches
Vehicle Speed 80MPH

and now I just realized it, I made an error in the dimension I entered as tire Radius, I entered the tire diameter not the radius... tire radius is half the diameter. I can see where Redcat goofed up in thier calculations now

You know, I have bought 3 of the Hurricane's now, put a HPI 4.6 and a 20 tooth clutch bell on one and I don't care who you are, it's FAST on the street. Red cat, put a kit together for your (Hop Ups) for cheap and sell a screw-bolt kit for your cars.
Now the only problem I have is controlling it. For the money-bang for buck, cheapest yet best, what is a good fm controller\transmitter and receiver and servo?

I can asure you these redcat engines are not all reving 35 000 I would think my bb is more around 20 000 rpm If you listen to a traxxas or someone else who claims thay rev to 35000 they sound a lot higher

http://www.treasuretrovetoys.com.au/prod8.htm check out that sight They say the engines have a practical rpm from 4500 - 32 000 it could be a exageration or I could be wrong but I will do some math to see If that rpm makes sense with our gearing and tire swell. But it is funny their add says it could make your 2 speed buggy hit 70km/h that is exactly what I figure mine will go.

RE: 80+ MPH?! I don't think so...
I did some calculations like this I got a mesurement for my tires from the websight I bought it from. they say they are 86mm x3.14159 (circumfrance=pie x dia) that equils 270mm for a revalution then I figured out what 70km/h is in mm/h = 70 000 000 then from there devided that by 270 to get wheel rev per hour =25925 then devided that by 60 to get wheel rpm =4320 wheel rpm at 70km/h then on that same websight they list hi and low gear ratios and it says 5.84 for high so I multiplied that 4320x5.84 =25 234 engine rpm This is not counting any tire swell and anyone who has reved their car in their hand can tell you at top speed their is a lot So the tire swell will meen that the engine rpm for 70 km/h is less than 25 234 rpm i cant tell you how much less because I have now way of mesuring a loaded wheel at top speed for swell. Then to test my calculations I tried the calculator on the websight gman sugested and entered in 25000 rpm and tranny ratio of 5.84 and diff at 1:1 and tire radius at 1.74 inches that gave me a speed of 44.3 mph to turn that into km/h you divide it by .62 to get 71.45 km/h I initialy guess by saying my tornado bb with the vertex .18 engine sounds like 20 000 rpm I think it might be more like 22 000-24 000 on the ground. Note I did lots of calculations to find out the websight for my car must have listed the overall ratio for gear reduction including tranny and diffs.

What it comes down to is this kind of advertising is fraud, plain and simple and is ILLEGAL. I agree this practice in the RC industry is indefensable.
Any advertising that is misleading in any material respect is considered to be false advertising. Advertising that is misleading about a product’s place of origin, nature, quality or make is prohibited under federal and most states’ laws. To be found guilty of false advertising, it must be shown that the advertisement was deceptive in nature. Whether or not the advertiser intends to mislead you is not important; the overall impression of the advertisement is. Moreover, there is no requirement that the advertisement actually caused harm.Congress has enacted two statutes that have the greatest effect on advertising: the Federal Trade Commission Act and the Lanham Act. Under the FTC Act, the FTC is given broad authority to regulate advertising. Within this power, the FTC has issued regulations barring advertisements that could be misleading, even if they are true.
To establish a violation under the Lanham Act, a plaintiff must prove:
* the advertiser made false statements of fact about its product.
* the false advertisements actually deceived or had the capacity to deceive a substantial segment of the target population.
* the deception was material.
* the falsely advertised product was sold in interstate commerce
* the plaintiff was injured as a result of the deception.

RE: 80+ MPH?! I don't think so...
I am not by any meens looking to sue, or for that mater am I even mad about the advertised speed of my car It goes to dam fast as it is I have no way to control it at 44 mph let alone 60mph. My car was bought from a company that claimed it went 60mph and 90 km/h the funny thing is 62mph=100 so 60 equils about 97km/h. But if they claimed it would go 90 and I can only get 70 that is no big deal where the hell can I even drive it at 70 let alone 90 I think with my upgrade pipe and maybe and a air filter It will go faster because these engines are claimed to be good to 32 000 rpm I never tried adjusting the wing or taking it off that would make a big difference at those speeds.

RE: 80+ MPH?! I don't think so...
Are you serious????? lol. people are just unbelievable. some people have no common sence and are very funny to me. hahaha!!! so if this were true then why are there no lawsuites going on for about 80% of the things we buy? you are probably one of thos people that buys a sony xplod 1000 watt car amp and really think it pushes 1000 watts. lol. when in reality your lucky to get 400 out of it. i mentioned before about my car cd player. maybe i should sue them for saying that it pushes 45 watts a channel. come on people. Are there really that many companies that dont bend the rules a little when it comes to advertising? Maybe this is where sence comes in huh?????????? I thought these were supposed to be constructive threads. but yea i realize no matter where you go there are people that get their kicks out of bashing on others and things they dont have or like. this is where getting a life comes in. well to all, have fun, mash, or sit here and critisize whatever floats your boat.

Speaking of RC boats now there's something that actually goes over a hundred miles per hour and they have actual documentation of it. Whats really funny is the fastest electric boat beats the fastest Nitro buy over 14 mph [&o]

well, those numbers are for noobs who THINK that they do 80mph, when your new, 20mph is like greased lightining.
dont hate a company for false information that stupid, i could see complaining that the ALUMINUM chassis is painted PLASTIC.
by the way, how fast are the tremors? by the looks of it, 30mph looks probible, if not 25mph still your talking about a car the size of you'r foot! (well not my foot)
