Default Volcano STX Exhaust pipe messing up your Truck?

Well, I was sick and tired of cleaning up the mess the exhaust pipe makes. Made no difference if I drove the Truck off-road or on-road. It would still get pretty messed up, because the exhaust pipe blows everything out on the back right wheel and not only there. So I came up with this.

As you can see, the part that goes through the exhaust manifold is reinforced to stand the heat.

What do you think?

Actually not that different. Also, the performace has not changed either. I thought that it would, but it didn't.

Is it wedged under the right rear dogbone? From the picture it looks like it'll rub against that when the wheel is turning. I can't really tell if it is or not.
But yeah that looks like a pretty good fix to the mess that comes out of the exhaust. Just curious, what diameter tubing is that?

Here's a zoom of the third picture.

The truck is rolling fine though. It's not touching any moving parts.

I don't know about the diameter. I just took my exhaust pipe to the local hardware store and found one that fitted.

Did he give you a reason why? The only problem I see is that the unburnt fuel might pool up somewhere and create a lot of back pressure because it'll be blocking up the pipe.

Hah. Hey car, go to page 161 of sept issue of radio control car action. If you don't have that issue handy, go to www.vortice-br.com and show it to your lhs fc guy. According to the ad, it will damage the engine by making it faster there by making its destruction mor likely in the event an immovable object is encountered at the newer higher speed (nyuk nyuk as curly says) Seriously, look at the ad to design your own custom exhaust. You won't hurt anything but your lhs rcguys feelings.

Thats a pretty cool idea..I dont see why it would damage or effect your motor...As long as the exhaust is always free flowing..I think it should be fine..If i were you tho..I would take another pipe a little bit bigger and make it go from small tube to bigger tube..It will give it more flow when opening up that throttle..I have also modified my Exhaust on my Volcano Stx..That thing made a HORRIBLE mess all over my truck..2 minutes of run time..and there was excess fuel all over the place..I will post pictures up soon!!

OK, first of all, it's cheap! [link=http://www.topspeedtoys.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=18&products_id=188]$159.99[/link] is quite low. I've had a few problems with the gears getting stripped, ([link=http://www.topspeedtoys.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=173]mostly this one[/link]) but that's fixed now, it just had to be properly aligned with the engine. Also the [link=http://www.topspeedtoys.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=208]clutch bell[/link] just broke to pieces, but I guess that's just the case with Taiwan products. Once I replaced these 2 (also cheap) parts, the truck was problem free.

Oh, you might also want to replace the [link=http://www.topspeedtoys.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_8&products_id=195]front bearing C-Hub[/link] and the [link=http://www.topspeedtoys.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_8&products_id=194]front steering knuckle set[/link] with these alloy ones from HPI, just to make the front of the car stronger, and more bashing resistant.

hey guys. I just wanted to check and see if youve ever seen [link=http://h1072455.hobbyshopnow.com/products/description.asp?prod=DYN8750]these[/link] before. You can pick them up at your local hobby store for a few bucks. With a good clamp or ziptie they dont come off. Just a tip for something to cure your problem w/o worrying about damaging your motor.

Yeah, I've tried those. They are no good for Trucks though. Not long enough. Truck still gets all messed up.
