Pictures of your redcats

RE: Pictures of your redcats and other rides
They are Axial Rockster beadlocks with Pro Line Badlands tires. http://www.axialracing.com/details.php?Id=3565
They are narrower than the original rims and tires.
I think they look good with the new body.

RE: Pictures of your redcats and other rides
I bought a RedCat Avalanche off of Ebay about 2 weeks ago for $300 + all the extras. The seller sent me a Monsoon by accident and told me a few days ago the they would send me tires, wheels, shell and that would make it an Avalanche. IS THAT ALL that makes the two different? Well anyways I told the girl, man, dog, cat(whatever) in the email that it would be fine and I would send the Monsoon wing, tires, wheels back to them. ANYWAYS here's a few pics of the Monsoon. I've been itching to break it in but I'm new to Nitro so I'm trying to fill my head full of info that will help this thing last and run the best it possibly can. [:-]

read the monsoon thread. There is a list of things to do before even starting that thing. I dont mean that in a bad way, just better to be safe than sorry.

That monsoon body looks really cool without the wing on it! Don't get me wrong.. always liked it with the wing but I think it somehow looks faster without it on.

RE: Pictures of your redcats and other rides
I got the Avalanche tires, wheels, shell in today. I think it looks soo much better than the monsoon. Its still the monsoon guts but just with a Avalanche look.
My wife and I went out tonight to the park and started breaking in the SH28. Beat up my nuckles pretty bad using this pull start, but I guess that's all part of the hobby huh? :P
QUESTION: Is a starter box worth getting? Is there a special type of starter box to use with 1/8 redcats?
Also, how long does it take (roughly) to charge a glow plug igniter? I have the standard 1800mAh that came with the redcat starter kit.
I was using a medium glow plug during break in and the engine didnt want to stay running the moment the slightest bit of thottle was applied. Sooo I changed out the medium plug for a OS A3(hot) plug and it seemed to idle abit better. I just left the glow iginter on the engine to keep it running because, well, that's what the LHS told me I should do. o0
Well I was able to idle one full tank and just after the filling up tank two, the engine didnt seem to want to start. I pulled the plug to check it and what do you know? THE FRICKEN GLOW PLUG IGNITER WAS DEAD! Grrrrrr!! I charged it for atleast 4 hours and I though that would have been long enough but I guess not..
Here are a few pic of the Monsoon kit with Avalanche Tires, Wheels, Shell and one of Mr. Rabbit! Still havent put all the decals on it soo.. :P

xDIRTYSOUTHx your rear tires are on backwards.
The glow plug is basically a dead short so it drains the igniter battery very fast. With the standard charger I think the charge time from completely dead is like 8 hours. You get get a different charger with adjustable charge rates to charge it faster. Just remember the slower charge is better for the battery and it will last longer. Only fast charge it when you really have to. Id invest in an extra igniter. I used to have 3 till my son took one of them apart.
Try leaning out the HSN 1/8th of a turn, that should help it idle a little better during break in. You might want to raise the idle a touch as well.
Also, do a google search for the Heat Cycle break in method. Its a much easier and faster break in method and it will you better results then the old idle on a box method.
Congrats on the new truck and good luck with it.

RE: Pictures of your redcats and other rides
Well just some simple changes to the idle screw and low speed screw and it purrs like a dream. It's starting to get alot faster with each tune and I'm loving it. The brakes seem to be too soft so im going to tighten them up abit to help stop this thing. thanks for the tips keith!
Peace!

dirtysouth, an easy way to improve your stopping power is to replace the springs on the brake shafts with a small piece of fuel tubing. It wont compress as much when the brakes are applied which will give you better stopping power.

RE: Pictures of your redcats and other rides
ok, I'll try that out. I have to say that I'm soo glad the engine seems to get easier and easier to pull start with each tank. Those first two tanks were hell on my nuckles. :]
The wife went with me again tonight and already asking for "A pink one" haha..

Second is my hpi rs4 pro its pretty stock has a 16turn double and a tekin speed star speed control. Its fun to get out and run around the on the street. Last is an old Kyosho salute, its about 20yrs old totally stock and runs like new.

LOL You dont know how long i tried to do that! I took almost a 100 pics trying to get it to show up. The flash on my camera is so darn bright! Some of those pics were taken in a pitch black room! And no I don't know how to turn off the flash.[] YET!

RE: Pictures of your redcats and other rides
Thanks.
Those lights are Very Bright! you just can't tell thanks to my superman flash LOL.
I even tried putting one or two fingers over the flash... I either got a picture of all black or one that looked good except the car was way out of focus. (must have something to do the exposure)
Oh well.. I'll figure out the dumb camera another day.
