Default need alittle help

OK my xp hasnt run right since I rebuild it awhiel ago.The probelm I have is when i tunr it on it runs wide open.It runs like I am pulling the trigger. It also will not shut off.Now i was told that it may have something to do with the throttle.I went and worked with it and I think i have it right now.My question is how can i make it stop running if it wont turn off without hurting anything?

put your finger over the exhaust.

what did you rebuild?
the engine, or did you just take everything apart.

I am happy I didn't put what I was going to put when you asked how do you shut it off. I was going to say, just run it in to a tree or a wall, everyone else seems to be doing that. lol Just kidding. Glad you got it back together.

i was gonna say you might have bent somthing.
i guess i was right. sorry that just a thought.

anyway i had a problem that sound like your throttle prob awhile ago after i took mine completly apart.

unhook the throttle servo with the screw, push the throttle closed, start car.
them rehook everthing with the throttle in the same closed position.

good luck

sounds like the clutch shoes or springs to me. I'd check and/or replace.

it also could be a glitch in the radio, caused by low batteries or bad crystals. iv had that happen. the way to check is if the the throttle operates fine when the car is not running, and then stick at full when the car starts, its prolly a glitch

that looks like a pretty nice hit, maybe you knocked the servo or servo horn or throttle linakge out of whack

I also had this issue, as well as my bro-in-law ... make sure your clutch shoe spring is not bad or come loose on you. Can you roll it forward and backward easily with no resistance? Do you hear a metal on metal noise when you do? Can you start it easily while it is on the ground?

I'd also check the server/throttle operation with it not running but turned on. Does it go back to the 1-1.5mm opening in the carb when you let off of the gas or does it stick at WOT?

By the looks of the pic, you need to pop off the star on top of your steering servo. It looks from here that your carb is wide open. Is it?

actually the blue fueltubing by the servo horn is supposed to be between the brake adjustment and brake lever

unhook the throttle servo horn, put the radio and car on, put the servo horn back on so the carb is only open a little for idle then try and see if the throttle opens and closed when you pull the triger.

In addition to that, make sure the THROTTLE TRIM is set to neutral and check your throttle switch to make sure it's not reversed. You'll be putting on the brakes when in actuality you will be going WOT...
Like ehroof said, it is very important that the transmitter and receiver are on. Push the carb throttle arm back all the way, ensuring the carb closes to the proper 1mm or 1/8" opening, then screw the horn back on the spline.

yeah check all your linkages as suggested above and if all else fails, look at the clutch. A dodgy spring or worn shoes will cause the engine to rev out uncontrollably.
