A new motor would be the best, but a pipe and header always help tons.

The sh 18 is a great upgrade, and you can get it half off through the redcat engine replacement program. and the os is better, but its more expensive

i'm not sure if the engine mount holes are the same, but the new sh .21 for the landslide has a side exaust. it would probably give ur drivetrain some issues tho, and it's also a slide carb, but that's not a huge issue to overcome

I Have found a solution to fix the rear diff on the volcano sv. THe solution although appearing to be obvious the results in performance are amazing. Heres what you do take out the diff and dissassemble it including the carrier, so you can get to the spider gears. Clean everything real good with brake cleaner, the reason you use brake cleaner is it removes the grease and does not leave a film. With everything in place inside the carrier fill it with 2 ton epoxy or something similar and reassemble. Once cured it will be a locked rear end. Reinstall the diff and enjoy![8D]

Ya but then its locked, it makes the car harder to turn. You will get better traction but your handling will suffer

Yes that is true.... If you run it on blacktop or if all you do is run at full throtle all the time, but for off road like dirt and sand it does't really hurt the handeling. Good point and i should have mentioned that.

hey guys i just do not know why my volcano sv s30 use a lot of nitro i do like four passes and then i have to put more nirto in the truck i do not know why it dose that if any body can help me out that be great but i love this truck

You probably have a crack in your tank. Take your fuel lines off the exhaust and motor, and pinch one and blow in the other. I gauentee thats what it is. There is no reason other than that to why it goes that fast.

hey chevyderek72 thanks i did what you told me to do and i found the problem it was the fuel filter that i put on it was lose so the gas comeing out of it the way i fond out was i did what you told me to do but i took off the filter and every thing was good so i was still wondering whats wrong so i put nitro in it and ran it and it was still useing a lot of nitro and the truck was covered with fuel and oil so i took a good look at the filter and it was all fill of fuel and oil and dirt so i took it off and check it and all this time it was lose so if anybody buy one of these thing make sure it's good and tight

Haha no problem, so your fuel filter was just loose and leakin tons of fuel?

I had the screws going from my engine to my exhaust manifold vibrate out. I was looking to order them but wasn't quite sure on the part number. I found some with part #02094www.redcatracing.com/RC-Cars/02094, But wasn't quite sure it is it. Also should add lock tite to these screws never really thought to since it was going through the engine wasn't sure that I should.

Lock tite is always a good thing to use but the best thing that I know of is buy a screw a little longer than the ones it comes with and install a nut on the other side.........That doesn't come loose to often good luck and HAPPYRC'en

I have been having a problem with stripping and breaking the screws going through the chassis in to the engine mount. I would like to replace them with stainless hex if I can find them. Does anyone know what size they are off hand, or where I could find something like that?

Also, having some steering problems. The servo is pushing but something isn't letting it turn far. Seems to be happening since I installed aluminum arms. I tried loosening the ball screws in the joint, but that doesn't seem to help. Any ideas of what to try would be appreciated. Thanks!

Go to your local hardware store and find something that fits. And as for the steering, its your servo saver, this thing- http://www.redcatracing.com/RC-Cars/02025 Whats happening is that its loose so when you turn it opens up, its supposed to do that incase you hit something and your wheels have to turn, so it doesnt ruin the servo. Tighten it using that metal piece and you'll be good.

Those screws are 3mm. It's damn rare to find 3mm in a hardware store. Even if they have metric, very few go that small. And finding metric in stainless with a hex head at the hardware store??? No way unless you have the king of all hardware stores. Try your local hobby shop. You can also try [link=http://www.mcmaster.com/#]McMaster-Carr[/link]. I think they have the widest selection of that kind of hardware, the prices are really good as long as you do not mind getting 25 or 50 or 100 instead of 2 or 4, and their search function is really good for finding what you want.

I would guess you want something like [link=http://www.mcmaster.com/#92855a313/=2ummcr]this[/link] or [link=http://www.mcmaster.com/#92095a183/=2umn9q]this[/link] or [link=http://www.mcmaster.com/#92137a254/=2umnru]this[/link] although I am not sure about length. And if you are getting stainless because you want a stronger material,that may not be a good choice. In low profile socket head cap screws (the first link), for example, the class 8.8 steel actually has higher tensile strength than the 18-8 stainless version of the same screw. Check the material info on [link=http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/115/3084/=2umpgb]this[/link] and other catalog pages.

Then you are truly blessed with an excellent hardware store. I wish I had a store that good near me. Most do not go down to 3mm, and if they do, it is very uncommon to find them in specialty types like stainless steel and hex head. Nonetheless, it is worth a phone call or stop to see if they have them near you. In my area, you are best to use the LHS if you want to pay more for fewer but want them right away. Otherwise, McMaster offers the best option.

As for the steering, I don't think it is the servo saver, because even with it tightened all the way down, it doesn't want to turn, and my servo horn broke because it pushed so hard but wasn't able to move anything. By hand it seems to turn OK when disconnected from the servo, but maybe I am just not sure how it should feel. I am quickly getting used to how easily everything seems to work on my Lightning.

I ordered 100 of 2 of the types of screws linked above, and they shipped very quickly, unfortunately they are all too long. Thread size is right though, so I guess I just need to keep looking. If anyone needs $13 worth of m3 screws and washers let me know.

Edit: placed another order for 8mm length. The ones I ordered previously were all 12mm.
