I have decided just to go with a Volcano epx. What kind of motors would be best?

lol, one would run it very lean and get it very hot and run it for a long time like that, or one would just run it without and air filter. one could also keep it off the ground and rev it at full throttle until something happened, if you do the third one, make a video, i would like to see that!!!!!!

it comes with a 540 motor, the esc is supposed to be able to handle a 12 turn motor, i would say go with a 15 turn double and see how that does for you, if you go too low it will eat up batteries fast.

sure but you should get a better charger too, the one that comes with it is a regular wall charger.

New question????????? Do they make different sized clutch bells that will work on the 1/8 hurricane? The teeth are different then the ones on the bb. (bigger)
The stock one is a 14t bell. I'm looking for one that's smaller and one that's bigger. Any help?

Sorry if this has been covered before - I only made it about halfway through the thread... I just picked up a used Tornado in a trade. I was a little surprised when I realized that the tires didn't have foams in them - is this the way they come new? Second question - I am thinking about converting the axles to accept RC10B4 rear wheels/tires (Would be convenient since I have a B4 and they are readily available at the LHS). I set them up and they seem to be the proper size. My only concern would be that the B4 is electric and I'm not sure the pin/wheel would hold up (The B4 is brushless and I have had no problems but it is quite a bit lighter than this redcat). Anyone have any thoughts?

it should work fine, they use the pin with no hex right? if it can handle brushless i am sure it can handle the nitro engines. brushless has alot of torque. and yes the stock tires do not have foam in them but they do work pretty good.

About the tires, These arent very good tires. Just regular plastic rims that break after a few jumps. Especially when the tires do not have foam inserts. To answer your question, the ones that you get brand new out of the box do not have foam inserts.

This is how i almost got a heart attack. i was walkin down a 5 lane street just cruisin my tornado on the side walk. A few kids walk by me and asks me how fast it goes. knowin me, i gun it, and knowin me, i did not extend the antenna on the crappy remote. The buggy zooms onto the street right in front a car and then crosses the middle. by the time i extend antenna, the engine dies. I freak out as cars just keep on drivin by. I have to say that i am very lucky that my car lived

Changing the gears in the smartech tranny with the gears out of the redcat lightning tranny worked fine. The cars all put back together but hasn't been ran yet. I'll let you know the new top speed when I do.

Anyone know about the hurricane cluth bell? What's another brand that will work? Need one bigger and one smaller.

Do they sell a set of bearings in all assorted sizes for rc's, or is it just by model?

On the hurricane you should be able to use HPI clutch bells. They should work out just fine.

Thanks for the help. I found tons of different kinds of bells. I just hate buying parts that I can't use. I've already got three tool boxes full of crap and it seems every time a car breaks it's something new so the collection keeps growing.

I've got a new one. I just got a clutch kit in for one of my cars and i'm a little confused. It has the holes for the pins on the flywheel and some threaded holes with little set screws. Are the screws for weight to change the clutches reaction? Any help?

Hey guys, I got a problem on my hands. I took apart the tranny and clean the engine. While I took the tranny apart but the break arm fell out (the arm that connects to the beem that is connected to the servo horn). I see that the piece has a groove, but it will not allow me put it back in. I try but it doesn't go in all the way in. God know i need my breaks! please help

if its the arm with the round part that hooks to the trans, it goes in the hole on the top of the trans in the silver part that stick out, there is a set screw on the top that keeps the arm in place.

Sry but I don't understand. It is the arm that turns to apply pressure to the break disk. At the bottom, it makes 'c' or 'u' shape at the very bottom.

yes, thats the arm, it slides into the top of the trans, there is a small set screw on top of where the arm slides into.

my first try failed. I cant find the set screw. When you are looking down on the tranny, I see 2 holes. The one closest to the middle doesn't really lead anywhere, and the one farthest away from the middle is the hole that i need to get in. Is the screw in that hole? If not I dont see any other screws, except the ones holding the whole tranny together.
