I've got a bit of run time on mine now, and I got to say, it's working pretty good. The shocks are pretty much worthless, and the radio has a very limited range, but if I stand in the middle of our little track we have going up on the hill, I can run the track and stay in range. Aside from the radio and shocks, this thing just motos! engine starts easy hot or cold. I haven't moved the needles yet from 3 turns out on the high and flush on the low, and it just hooks up! I love it! I've got the truggy wheels coming to see what that does, Got a new radio on the way, and am looking for replacement shoks.

Overall can't complain about the car, drive train seems to be quite bullet proof, engine keeps running weather it's upside down or on it's wheels, anf the brakes work *****in!

already did, they don't shock, they just squeeze the oil like it was a piston and spring back. never seen shocks do that before. plus they leak.

Make sure you didn't overfill them. I replaced my oil with associated 30 wt. and I found that if I filled it to the brim they would only actuate about halfway before locking up. Not sure why. The aluminum purple shocks from redcat are junk compared to the blue, I bought the purple to replace a top mount on the shock and the adjusters slip. Luckily I was only needing replacement parts. Check out this mod for the front shock tower. I made some small doubler plates for the rear too.

The front tower is Redcat with the bottom Diff. holes and arm pin holes shaved off. The front/Aft tower is from Himoto PYTHON XV3 P/N 06058 it can be found at www.exportpro.biz It is under the PYTHON XV3 upgrade parts list. You will see an uncanny resemblence to Tornado. Himoto's front tower is a lot stronger even if you want to run it alone (direct fit) The only shock hole that lines up is the most outboard hole when using both. A-arms same. You need a little longer screws (Ace Hardware). It also moves the shocks to a little more vertical position and the front body mount hole forward about half a hole (not much diff.) If you only use himoto's alone, you won't move shocks or body mount forward. Here is a mod I made to the back shock towers with some aluminum stock and some other upgrades. Redcat would be better off using shock towers with a little more meat on them. I'm also using Futaba 3PM radio and servos. Associated fuel bulb primer, Redcat fuel filter, Sullivan tiger drive, RPM front bumper (a great investment for parking lots with curbs), and Patriot air filter. This is a Tornado BB Pro.

the tornado bb that I got a month ago has all the teeth worn off of the 42t spur gear. what could have caused this? I broke in per break in instructions ran about 10 times and then it started skipping. upon further investigation the teeth were gone.

Mesh problem
Either not set right to start with
OR
motor mount screws came loose causing the engine to shift away from the gears
take's only seconds to ruin the gears
Been there-done that LOL

the teeth are gone on the 42T spur gear after under a dozen runs? the setting was factory and I don't know why? could this be a clutch problem? or is this typical? how can I minimize this from happening either operation or maintenance?

Not a clutch problem-it's a mesh problem between the clutch bell and the trans gears. My first RC did the same thing.Since that time I make sure the mesh is checked and the 4 screws that hold the engine to the chassis are checked for tightness

it depends on the tires you put on it, the bigger the tire the more top end but you will loose low end. these are geared for the smaller buggy tires and rims not truck tires.

anyone know of any good on-road weels and tires that will fit the tornado?
today as i was running i had a problem. the engine would stop as i let go of the throtle in a sharp turn. Glow plug was fine .i was runnin hsn 2 turns from closed, lsn 1/2 turn lean from flush with collar, and idle was set correctly( 1.5 mm opening).
i think that the air filter is restricting the flow of air. anyone know of a good air filter that will fit the tornado?
(products preferably from clermont motorsports, but anywere is fine.)
thx for the help

email dennis and get the motorsaver air filter, its the best out there. he has the 1/8 in the site but not the 1/10 yet, i know he has them because i get them from him.

make sure your not running to hot and how is the compression when it stalls?
