RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
That's kinda one of my worries. The rockets are going to have to be dead straight with maybe a little downward angle. I want the car to fly, just not literally..lol

keep it on asphault so you car doesnt either bury its self in to the ground with the downward angle or hit bumps to launch it unto an endless front flip and a quick descent to the ground. lol

Mounting is kinda still up in the air right now. I have some carbon fiber I'm going to cut a much larger rear shock tower out of with three holes. One on top and one on either side. In the hole I want to mount copper pipe with ends soldered on the fronts. Then simply cut something like this ][ in the pipe and use a hose clamp to hold the rockets still. Maybe? I'll see how it goes...

That would be nice to watch on vidio, I would probably look away in person[:@] you shouldn't need hose clamp you could use some quality tie wraps

I would rather over do it. I know if it works, at one point or time I'll fire three 10lb rockets from the back. That's a whole lot of force. Worst case scenario would be that a rocket would come free, or the whole shock tower and burn through the gas tank. I'll have to get video of every test just to be sure to catch something like that on film. I find trying something "new" you always run into at least one problem. Hopefully my only one will be finding a bigger clutch bell. lol Would this fuel go "BOOM" or just burn like a rubbing alcohol?

It will have to be an on-road. Got one for cheap. I watched a lot of those youtube video's and nothing is really close to what I want to do. All the ones I saw were with the cars not running. Besides I want one primary and two secondary rockets. Tested the switches with a light bulb for current and both work good. Mounted them to car and mounted a different battery pack in the front bumper(power for ignition). Kinda cold out today so I didn't cut the shock tower yet. With the design I have the body will still fit but I had to cut the rear end off so the rockets have a clear path. I should start getting parts in anytime. When I make some decent progress I'll put pics in my gallery. Probably by Monday.
Nobody answered my question from before. Will this fuel go "BOOM" or just burn like alcohol? I'm shooting for no "BOOM". lol

Be careful with home-made ones. If you packed it too tight "BOOM". Tried that years ago.

My last question leads to another silly question. Is it possible to convert a 2 speed buggy to electric? Would you still use the clutch or just find a different pinion gear?

If you were to want to go to all that expense you would use a different gear.Electric or should I say the right electric set up is much faster than Nitro................That being said , Buy an electric and upgrade the engine............much less problem
