RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
Hello again everyone. Tonight I wrecked my tornado, and busted my wheel off. I got the dogbone that came out. Luckily it looks like the only thing that busted was the steering knuckle, and the exhaust bent up. On the bearings attached to the wheel, do I have to unscrew the black nut to get the old knuckle off? Also, can I get the bearing out of the wheel or have to buy a new one? The steering arms have the ball screws on it, do I screw those out to put the new knuckle on, then screw them back in? Sorry for all the questions. This is my first hobby rc, and dont have a clue on how to replace any of this stuff at all. All comments appreciated, and if anyone knows a link to a site or video on how to replace it all that would be awesome. Thanks in advance to everyone.
If it helps, I could post some photos.

if you take the wheel off you will see that black nut that goes inside of the wheel... if thats the black nut ur talking just put a screwdriver between the black nut and the knuckle and pry it off. watch out there is a pin in there that the black nut snaps onto... that will fall out and you will lose it if you are not careful. if the pin doesnt come out when u take the nut off simply just push it out. then u should be able to get your axel right outa the bearings.. then the bearings just pop right out of there. just use a screw driver and push it out from the other side.your steering link should just pop right off that ball if i remember right... again use a screw driver and pry it off.. then if you need to unscrew that silver ball.. your new one knuckle might come with one. dont b e afraid or sorry to ask questions. thats what these forms are for. we are all glad to help someone new to the hobby.. anymore questions just ask.

Here are some pics of my tornado xp's:
1. upgrade your 2 speed clutch bell to: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...4&I=LXCLR2&P=K + http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...4&I=LXDHM0&P=K + http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...4&I=LXCLR9&P=K
you may need to widdle away a little of the upper plate post so the gears clear it
2. if you want more low end touque use this clutch bell: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...4&I=LXM730&P=K you will loose top end speed with this but have much low end take off
3. upgrade your single speed clutch bell to: http://www.clermontmotorsports.com/s.../Detail?no=200 or this place: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLST9&P=7
4. upgrade to this clutch spring traxxas 4146x : http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...=++&search3=Go

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
I havent ever heard that before, but I had to change mine before my car was broke in. I've heard that its better to change your glow plug after you break in the engine because the break-ins hard on the glow plug. I'm still a newbie to the hobby, but thats what I've heard. I would grab an extra just in case. Hope my input helped a little.
P.S. As for the o-rings, I have no clue. I didn't need to mess with any of them when i got mine.

the orings should go in the front and the rear. its just to hold the dogbone in place better. i could tell you how to do it but i traded my tornado and then sold that one so i cant really refernece any more.. as far as i can remember just take out either the bottom or top a arm from the shock tower and then flip it out and your dogbone should be easily accesed. its best to always keep a couple spares of glow plugs. if its not tuned right you can go through them things like crazy.

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
sounds like its your idle and throttle linkage... if your motor isnt reving up good that is you problem then when u let off it kills cuz your idle is set to low... when u first start it does it idle? what are ur needle settings on your carb? the highspeed should be 2.5 and low speed flush with the collar. set the idle up until it idles stable. make sure you have good gear mesh. check the conditon of your gears too. if that doesnt help anything make sure all of the dogbones are in place and if everything looks good and the throttle servo functions properly take out the motor and take off the clutch. look to see if the shoes are oval shape or circular and make sure the spring is in tact. let me know how things turn out

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
take little orings and put on the inside of the cup or tiny piece of fuel line make sure to do it to both. that way the rubber oring holds the shaft away from the cup and more securely. if you have more questions let me know

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
Hey guys, a while back I purchased an exceed rc Sunfire and the motor burnt out within a month. It has sat around ever since. Recently I've found out that it is actually a tornado and have thought about racing it. I want to get two sets of tires, Proline Calibers and JConcepts Goosebumps, Calibers for dry and Goosebumps for wet. The problem is that I don't know what wheels will work. Anyone have some suggestions on wheels?

any wheel will work with a little modification and different size hex... i would switch to its either 17 or 18mm hexes with buggy wheels then buy some sets of tires to test out.
