RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
Mine started to ding, I removed the bearing to find that it started to come apart. Also, is there any other trans shafts I can use on the front wheels. I ran my car and one of the dog bones vanished form the front. I tried getting replacements from Redcat but they said to use another, don't carry the one listed in the manual. It is the 84mm shaft, the ones they said to buy is like 1/8" to long.

At first mine wasn't dinging, then it started, thats when i found a bad bearing. Mine doesn't ding anymore, so I would say its not normal

you could email Dennis at clermontmotorsports.com and see if he carries them. they have to be better than the dogbones that come with it.

ehroof,
Any idea what the part numbers are for either the redcat bearings or a third party replacement? The manual doesn't even have a picture of the clutch bell assembly, let alone a parts list.
thanks,
Pete

Does anyone know where I can get front and rear aluminum carriers for the tornado xp? My rear carriers heat up and melt on the outside face. The bearings are fine, so thats not the problem.

What shims does it need? I'm not a newbie by no means, but I just don't see how it can be shimed! It could just be a defect in the part, its only the right rear that does it. Do you have a washer behind the drive pin? Just wondering, because mine dos'nt on either side, but it does have it on the inside! Its kinda like cat n mouse!

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
well i finally got my tornado xp monday, the weather wasnt very good so i decided to run it tuesday i had everything out and was fueling it up and wouldnt you no it ,it had a seam leak on the tank. boy was i poed. i took it apart and ran some epoxy around the seams and let it dry alnite . i just went out and filled it up and i guess i got it fixed,i fueled it up and it only took 5 pulls to start it! i ran 1 tank of fuel through it and put it up to windy out there. should i put some after run oil in it now because i was going to run it when my son gets home from school. what is the best temp to run these motors when breaking them in? i got mine up to 210 degrees on one fuel tank. i ran it 5 minutes and stopped to cool then ran a nother 5 minutes and let her cool, i done this 3 times. it says to do it for 3 tank fulls to break in the motor. does anyone have any suggestions or am i doing it rite? you guys sure have been helpful and i appreciate the suggestions.

Always use after run oil in the vx 18. The main bearings rust very quick! Just turn the high end needle out about 2 3/4 and let it run 3 to 4 tanks good and rich for break in.

First turn the highend needle all the way in softly until it resists, back it out about 2 3/4 turns. Look at the low end make sure its flush, then check the batteries in your glow starter or power supply. If all is good it should run unless it is the clutch. Let me know! One more thing, check your head bolts and make sure they're tight!!

Here's some pics of my xp. The body is final painting stage. "AS SMOOTH AS A BABY'S BUTT!!!"
This is with the mods listed on this forum on page 1. HPI clutch set up and rustler wheels with proline hole shot tires.
I think we need a 3 speed tranny 12-17-22 on the pinions and this thing would be a bullet!! lol

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
I bought the hop hop parts for the front drive, universal trans shafts. How do the install. I took out the large bearing so they would set in place, but they seem to long, the upper a arm will not connect and since they are long, the shafts bind the wheels from turning. This was ordered by the PN listed in the book, is there something else I need to do or do I need the hub upgrades before they will fit.
