Here are some pics of my tornado xp's:

1. upgrade your 2 speed clutch bell to: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...4&I=LXCLR2&P=K + http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...4&I=LXDHM0&P=K + http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...4&I=LXCLR9&P=K
you may need to widdle away a little of the upper plate post so the gears clear it

2. if you want more low end touque use this clutch bell: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...4&I=LXM730&P=K you will loose top end speed with this but have much low end take off

3. upgrade your single speed clutch bell to: http://www.clermontmotorsports.com/s.../Detail?no=200 or this place: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLST9&P=7

4. upgrade to this clutch spring traxxas 4146x : http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...=++&search3=Go

they are both the same, just you get 2 sets of springs with the 886, firm and regular, this is for different stall rates (higher rpm engagement of the clutches)

you always wanna change the clutch spring to the traxxas one. and the clutch bell needs to be changed to the hpi one. if you dont change them, your gears will strip. change them before you run your car for the first time, it will save you alot of trouble. the links are up above. hope this helps you.

So ehroof, you tried the lower gearing clutchbell, and it worked. Sound like good news or me.

ehroof, I saw that it went from like 17t to 13t. My question is, should I keep my 2.8 in tires or go down to a smaller 2.2 in with the shorter gearing???

Thanks

i would get both, the 17/22 is good for top end (and the smaller tires), the 13/18 is good for low end torque and the bigger tires. i put 2.2 rims with smaller tires back on as you can see in the pictures above (green one).

I bought an aluminum upper plate for the tornado bb but I cannot figure out where the battery holder and battery pack go. Also there is a bar that came with the kit that i cannot figure out where to place it.

make sure your head bolts are tight and the glow plug is tight too. you can get a piston and sleeve from someone, i think top speed toys used to sell the engine parts for it, you can check his site, if not do a google of infinity .18 engine parts or piston and sleeve

SO I have been searching and trying to find all the parts from the same supplier to save on shipping and found one that has a clutcl bell and a 15t gear and 21t gear and mip springs can you just put what ever gears you want in? will the mesh with the seconderies? I think maybe the step down from 17 to 15 and from 22 to 21 might not be as bad. what do you guys think?

my engine is only 3/4 of a gallon old!!

its not shot its just weaker than it was, or should be.

i think my air filter let alot of redclay dust in, i used oil but that dust still gets though that filter.

i also think my factory setting was way to lean.

im just gonna buy the os engine that ehroof talks so highly of.

just for everyones info the rebuild kit is 50 bucks from a.a.f.h.

thanks btw but im just gonna run this thing dead.

there has to be a 5 tooth difference between the gears like 17/22 or 13/18 you cant have 15/21 since the gears wont line up.

i feel the same way, its not worth spending $50 to repair an $80 engine, i would rather buy the os .18 cvrx and its a direct bolt on.

nothing against aafh, most rebuild kits are around that price range.
