Just wondering if the volcano bumper is a direct bolt on or do I have to drill holes. I see that the body needed a trimming.

Very happy with my tsunami! 1st nitro RC for me it has been a learning curve but well worth it. This thing has took a bashing from me learning the ropes of nitro . I had to repair the clutch spring after the 6th tank. had to go in it and put my rear trans universal joint back lost the grub screw.
Thanks guys for all the support and useful info.

Now I have the bug and the Monsoon in my sights.

does it try to start at all? What if you prime the carb with a few drops of fuel? if the plug lights up, has fuel and compression it should start. check to make sure the head bolts are tight.

Make sure the igniter is actually working or pushed onto the glow plug all the way! Best way to prime is to hold your finger on the exhaust outlet then pull over a few times and watch the fuel enter the carb and give it a half pull from there.

it slides in, then there is a disk that goes behind the brake pad that gets pushed when the cam turns. i know its not the best explanation but if it doesnt help, i will try to explain better.

it goes behind the brake shoe closest to the housing, there is a hole there for it

thanks ehroof, i got it back together, but i drove for like two minutes and the same thing happened again as before, it was sitting there idling and all of a sudden the motor revs really fast and the gears are ground down where the gear on the motor is whats happening?

sounds like the mesh is not correct, you have to make sure the gears on the engine (clutch bell) and the trans gears are meshed correctly, not too tight to bind and not too loose to make little contact. it should roll freely. there should be a tiny bit of play between the gears when meshed correctly.

is this problem(shaving the spur gear) less likely to happen if i switch it over to the single speed tranny, i read in earlier postings that u have done this 2 ur tsunami. direct drive means the clutch bell and tranny are one piece?

i just dont like shifting on off road vehicles and it makes it more reliable, only the jato and tmaxx i leave 2 speed, oh an a couple of tornado's i have. If you have a steel clutch bell your ok, put a magnet on it to check. if it doesnt stick, you have aluminum and need to get a steel one, let me know and i will send you a link, if you got it in the last few months it should be steel. You just need to make sure the mesh is good if your bell is steel. I think the single speed just made the tsunami better since the 2nd gear is too tall and it make the truck bogg down when it hits it.

hey guy's how's it going.well I am a proud owner of a revo 3.3 and a savage x ss,but I have been wanting to get a redcat because there is only 1 lhs in my town and he sell's nothing but redcat's and redcat part's,and it would be alot quicker to get parts for it.it's like 3 minutes away.but other than that I have to order part's online for my 2 nitro's cause the closest lhs is about 150 away which really suck's.So I was thinking about getting the tsunami ultrawide,it looks very durable and really like the way it sits.Oh, would i be able to put a different engine in there, say like a BB or a mid block, would I be able too?

i have seen someone put a hyper .21 in a volcano and since the tsunami is basically the same i am sure you can do it with that too, you just need to do some work, redrill the chassis and the body mounts.

I replaced the Spur Gear, 6032, that got chewed up while breaking in the engine on a starter block! Anyway, ran the car slow a few times to break in the engine, adjusted the settings on the carb. to keep up with the brake-in, and then let loose. Car ran great for two tanks and then lost the top end speed! don't know if it's the engine or possibly the top end gear issue. The gears are still there! Is there something in the differential or clutch that could be causing this? []
