Keith have you thought of just putting a faster servo on for faster steering?

well keith im looking at the servo horn the only problems i would run into is the shaft coming out of the servo is a spline (teeth that stop the horn from slipping) a quick fix for that would a small set screw actually a small set screw would ideal you could really fine tune it. the other problem would be is everything on these trucks uses metric and being in the US my shop only uses SAE thread taps. the linkage ball on the horn is metric other than that i should beable to make the horn ill check out prices on metric taps might be a few bucks or might be 100 bucks.

thats a sweet bumper man , i also work in a machine shop on a cnc mill and other machines. i looked at making a bumper like that but i was abit unsure about hitting sumthing really hard and bending the chassi plate because the bumper is so solid . so i went for a plastic one that gives, a fair bit . but good work anyway , it will be cool to see what u make next.

i just bashed te hell out of the bumper its designed to give out before the frame does and the bumper did just that. im going to redesign it to make it a little higher it likes to hit on landing.

lol my truck still rolls only the bumper was trashed just waiting for the rain to go away. is it normal for the motor to need some throttle on start up?

Sometimes retro. It could be the weather too. You can try just increasing the idle a little bit to help it start. Bring it up to where it will stay running without engaging the clutch. You can always back it off 1/8th of a turn at a time till you get it set perfect. You may still have to make minor adjustments as the weather changes though.

eminent, I was looking to increase the turning not the speed itself. The servo I have is fast, its just the stock servo horn is very short. By using a longer horn I was able to cut the turn radius down. But the only problem is that the longer horn flexes a bit more then I like. Id like to get an alum one but I havent been able to find a long one like the plastic.

Keith why dont you put the linkages on the inside hole on the steering nuckle that would help a bit (that is if you didnt already lol)

well the xtm looked smaller and the duratrax says REQUIRES: Use of NiCD or NiMH batteries, do NOT use ALKALINES

i think you should go for a NiCD hump pack anyways like i have, not only is it rechargable to save money on buying AA's but you get way more torque out of them for the servo's its amazing the diffrence..

ok tell me how long they hold a charge how much they usualy cost and do they come with a charger and does the redcat TX use rechargables too?

well i got a 1800mhz 6v hump pack for about $20 and it last a long while. you have to change the plug from the on/off switch but i spliced the new plug and the 4xaa"s plug together so if the hump runs out and im far away from a charger i can still use AA's . the 12v charger i have was $30 but i needed it anyway to charge the 7.2v battery for my roto start .

thos price's are ova here in australia , in the usa stuff is usally cheaper cos we import it from u guys. but our dollar is about 1/1 now its great

retro I use that duratraxx failsafe with alkiline batteries and it works just fine never a problem.
