Default RE: Redcat Racing Tsunami Thread

did anyopne notice that or its just me?

the wheels on the Tsunami are not balanced at all... or maybe the tire cuz i know they suck.
When itake the car off the ground and give it a few shot on the throttle, it seams like the damn thing will tear apart.
2 of the wheels whoobles like ther's no tomorrow. (its the wheels cuz i change them around and its always the same wheels that does that so its not the wheel hub)

Not a big deal anyway cuz i planned to changed wheels and tires but still, i'm scared the car will suffer from a symptom called auto-destruction...

Also, not sure if its related to ALL Tsunami but the tires on mine are so soft that the rims touch the ground when cornering... my 2 rear rims are all chipped...

Anyway. Cant stop wasting my time looking at the damn car and thinkering with it.
It is sooo cool!

The problem with the stock tires is the foam inserts. You could change them but you would probably destroy the tires trying to get them off the rims. Best bet is to run them for the break in and till you get used to the car and then upgrade the wheels and tires to something better.
As for the first upgrade, Id go with the radio and servos. The stock servos are slow and dont have much torque for turning the wheels. You dont need anything crazy because the car is light, but a better steering servo is a must. If you can afford it a 2.4ghz radio system is the way to go. No glitching, no crystals and much better range.

Guys,

maybe one of you have a fast way to fix that... otherwise, i'll have to make it work the hard way... or reinstall the old dogbones.

I installed the universal shaft hop-up part to replace the front dog bones (dif to wheels)
The threaded section on wich we screw the wheel lock nut does not look to be long enough.
The thread does not even go to the nylon in the lock nut.
Also, if i tight the lock nut enough (as tight as it should be), the wheel wont turn at all...

Have any of you ever see this issue?
Maybe i just recieved an out of spec part?
Anyway, all opinion are more then welcome!

Thanks!

I'm suffering from the same thing...I did notice tonight however that the pin for the inner wheel nut was broken, I won't get to change the pin and see if thats the problem tonight but you could see if your's is broken...you may answer my question for me.
Could someone give me some advice on my Ultrawide? This is my first Nitro and I'm quite impressed with this one. I would like to be able to pull the front end off the ground on takeoff, I've gone to a 14 tooth on my clutchbell with no luck. Do I need to change my Tranny gears aswell? Do i need to upgrade my electronics for quiker response? Or D all of the above.

Thanks to the creators of these forums it's been a great help to a first timer

Ohsobrown, take the roto start plate off and make sure the one way bearing is on the correct way. If thats not the problem check the gears in the roto plate.

Encountr, do you have some pictures of what you are talking about?

bearmeat, the stock engine and clutch if not going to be able to get the truck to wheelie. You need more power and heavier clutch springs if you want to do wheelies.

Any suggestions on an upgrade clutch spring?
And when you say more power, I'm guessing you mean a bigger engine? No way of doing it with the stock vx18 engine? I'm more than willing to sacrifice some top end speed.

use the traxxas 4146x clutch spring, high stall rate give you good jump from a dead stop.

Keith... unfortunatly, i dont have pictures... and no acces to a digicam right now...

You know where you bolt your wheels on, the thread is'nt long enough. It goes half way through the lock nut...
Anyway, i'll fiure out a way to fix that.

And to answer bearmet question, no, the lock pin are not broken...
I do think its a production issue, the parts are not well made.

Thanks anyway.

You might be able to find some thinner 12mm hex adaptors at your LHS

Well I'm back to the single shock setup. One good high speed flip left me with a wrecked right-rear. All better now!!

Hey man nice paddles I like them! Anyways I was tuning my tsunami today and running it pretty good. I think I got the shift points set decent and I'm getting close to a good tune on it. I think the 60 degree weather helped a lot. Both for the truck and my patience. Anyways I snapped a dogbone. The one that goes from the tranny to the rear diff. I snapped it clean I must have been spinning and the tires hit the asphalt and hooked up cause it just snapped. Anyways redcat doesn't have any of those in stock (suprise suprise) Does anyone know what size they are so maybe I can find some for another web site, or can anyone link some that I can buy from another site or something? Man I just got the parts to fix the front end and got it running and snapped this about 3 tanks into it all. Pretty disheartening. Any help??
thanks.

use the engine replacement program, you can get the sh.18 for less than $50. its a more powerful engine, very reliable. i highly reccomend it.
