clutch spring, can you start it with it on the ground, if not then its the clutch spring. if you can start it off the ground but not on the ground its the clutch spring.

you know i have the exact same problem , no matter what i do the sv i have dies when i hit brakes too hard,it starts fine off or on theground and i made sure that the throttle is opened just right, it also tends to want to shut off if i stop accelerating and the car is justy idling, basically i have to keep giving it gas or ill start to hear the engine dying out then quit.[&o]

if it starts on the ground then the spring is good, sounds like you have to adjust your throttle linkage, throttle trim then re adjust your throttle screw on the carb since its closing when you hit the brake.

you have to make sure the clasps on the spring are in the center of the shoes not on the edge where they open. aluminum clutch shoes need maintaince sometimes, the worn over edges need to be filed down once in a while.

I have posted this before but I am with ehroof on this one. Sounds like your carb is closing off when you hit the breaks. This problem haunted me for a couple weeks straight when I was tryin to learn how to run my cyclone. I found that the throttle screw didnt really work like it was supposed to. It is supposed to open/close the carb as you loosen/tighten it. Mine has allways worked more like a set screw. I loosen it and manually hold the carb at approximately 1mm open while I tighten the throttle set screw back down (doesn't have to be very tight). This prevents the carb from closing all the way shut when I apply the break. As I said, this is not the way the throttle set screw is supposed to function, just how it's allways been on my cyclone[&o].
