You can try thease, your best bet is to go to the tower web site and check it and there is a thread on here just for the redcat clutch problems. Give it a try that's where you will get your best info from that thread.

RE: hpi a825 clutch bell
Ya I know about those ones. I want to lower the gearing, and seen the 13/18 one peice clutch listed for the Tornado I think, but wanted to make sure it would work on the tsunami. I also remember reading something about the tire size and using the 13/18. Thank you for your answer and any further help .

RE: hpi a825 clutch bell
i got the parts, just cant seem to make them work. i tried putting a bushing on each side of the bearing but that doesnt work. the clutchbell binds up when you tighten the screw

you need to make a spacer to stop the screw and washer from hitting the clutch bell. if i remember you can use a 5/16 or 3/16 tension pin, cut down to size to make a spacer.

i used bearings instead of the bushings, you would need 3 - 5x8x2.5 bearings.
you put it washer, bushing, needle bearing, bushing (clutch bell) then washer, screw w/cut tension pin to keep a small space between the washer and screw, you will need a washer thats big enough the hold the large washer in place but not bigger than the screw head.

RE: hpi a825 clutch bell
oh ok. i bought the bushings you linked to in the other post "feels like trucks in second gear". My problem is the with only the needle bearing and one bushing its higher that the crank snout, so when you screw it down it binds it all up. i can see using a spacer so the screw doesnt quite tighten against the bushing that should keep it from binding, but there is nothing to keep the clutchbell from sliding off after thats done. i didnt think that would hurt anything but wasnt sure so i wanted to see how you did it. do you know what pn those bearings are, that sounds like the better way to go

any 5x8 bearings , 3 of them and eliminate the bushings and needle bearing. The tension pin will go insitde the bushing and washer. the washer on the outside on top of the clutch bell will keep it from coming off, you will still need the tension pin snyways, even if you do go with 3 bearings.

RE: hpi a825 clutch bell
thats why you need the tension pin cut down, it extends the shaft (snout) out past the clutch bell. then you put the big washer on to hold the clutch bell in place, you want to cut the tension pin down so it sticks out like 1/8 inch out of the clutch bell when pushed against the shaft (snout) inside the clutch bell.

RE: hpi a825 clutch bell
ok i see. the only thing then is that there wouldnt be very many threads from the screw into the crank, or did you use a longer screw?

RE: hpi a825 clutch bell
i used a longer screw i think, i did it so long ago, i dont remember. try with the original screw and see, unless you dont have the tension pin, then get a 1/4 inch longer screw.

I used the stock screw when I did it Eddie. I just had to keep grinding the tension pin down little by little to get some treads of the allen screw going in. Then I just used locktite. It takes some patients but it will pay off in the end the 13 and 18 bell is awesome.

RE: hpi a825 clutch bell
Well i went ahead and ordered the sealed bearings from tower hobbies 5x8 in a ten pack. the needle bearing needs to have a nice machined surface to funciton well, and the crank just isnt that smooth, the needle bearing really feels and sounds rough on there so im not going to chance it. once i get those, ill slide it all together and let it rip!
also, since the engine has to slide a good bit closer to the trans, does that cause any clearance problem with the stock muffler?
Thanks!

Any chance you could post up a photo of this setup, a little confused on the tension pin? I am ordering the parts, and plan on doing it this coming weekend on my new tsunami, well after the break-in period. Thank you!
