Default Bump box

I have a Hurricane Pro w/ .28 motor and would like to be able to use a starter box but it looks like the flywheel is too far up from the chassis . the wheel on the box looks like it will hit chassis before flywheel. Any ideas? or a drill start that matches up exactly with no mods.

Yes you can use a drill starter the drill plate for that motor you can get on the himtoracing.com in the new catalog and get the part number and have one of the guys sell it to you try HIGHBANKS RC.COM or all about the fun hobbies and there is also clermount motorsports.com and you can not you a starter box uless you put a differnt motor mount and then get the back plate for that motor or put one in there that as the plate already on it. I have know idea why they did that it's so dumb But they just think that you will keep running that pull starter. And the best drill sarter is HPI and it comes with one plate in the box. There are only two of them one for the tiawon motor and one for the china motor

You dont need to change the motor mount or add a back plate to use a bump box for a hurricane. Well at least the one I had lol.

you have to swap the spacers out from underneath the engine that look like small nuts. put those on top of the mounts on the engine and you can then bump it.

they shouldn't be used anyways, but the bolts are just too long, so i guess they figured they use spacers to compensate. stupid, yes.

Uhm, bump boxes are a pain in the butt, to much crap to lug around.

bump box is the best thing that ever happened to rc. beats rotostarts and pullstarts by miles.the other benefit of taking those stupid spacers from underneath the engine, is that you lower the cg a little bit.

standard backplate = freed up horsepower.

Kinda like if you were to run with a turbo plug instead of a standard (gotta convert the head button for it tho), you get an extra punch of power.

Bahhh, I don't need freed up horse power, That STS Monster 30 doesn't even know it has a pull start attatched to it. Bump = more crap to carry around. Just learn to use your pull start the right way, I can start any one of my cars with two or 3 quick pulls. I stick a glow starter in my pocket grab some fuel and off I go, lol.

Its funny you say that, I agree with that also lol. I sold my starter box, and I just use a pullstart for now. If they are tuned right those buggers to fire right up. I just dont care for roto starts.

i'd rather have a roto on the big blocks... that is, if i had no bump starter. You get a pullstart if you like blisters

I still use my pull start! The only time I had problems was when the one way bearing went out. Other than that the thing fires right up in one to two pulls everytime!

Don't forget to recheck gear mesh after you start it up.

I removed the spacer that was talked about but then the motor does not sit right. those spacers are there to make the motor sit flat if they are not there the motor will not sit right and can't be bolted down. If someone could post a pic of their .28 set up using a box I would be able to compare and see what my problem is . Thanks

is your motor a sh .28? Maybe you have taller motor mounts. aargh! I ordered the roto start from redcat today. Where is the one way bearing on the sh .28? there is only a nut with shaft in the pull start. It does not seem to catch for the pull start I'm sure it will do the same with the roto start.

Can you measure and tell me how for up your flywheel is from the bottom of the chassis. maybe up through the cut out from flywheel underside of chassis.
