Any 2.8 rims and tires will work, jato rear rims will work, jato tires will work. Any rim that says 2.8 inches will work on your car, any tires that are for 2.8 inch rims will work.

2.2 will work if it has a 12 mm hex, you can get onroad tires for the 2.2 rims. The traxxas rustler uses 2.2 rims but you will need 4 rears. the jato 2.8 with the anaconda tires would be a good onroad setup, its used on the traxxas jato, the same applies, you need 4 rears.

2.2 Rims don't work, we tried it already, the rim is too small and it rubs on the upper part of the hub, on the Volcano Series of trucks you HAVE to use 2.8 or they won't fit properly, on the buggy you can use 2.2 rims.

I don't how, we put them on a Vocanl STX and they rubbed on the upper part of the hub where the upper adjuster attaches, but we swapped them out for 2.8inch and they fit perfect.

the 2.8 have a better offset. The 2.2 will fit, some need a little trimming on the ribs on the inside but i have a set of traxxas chroms rustler rears on mine with the gladiator tires and they work fine.

no, you need the hex to fit, the front are rounds with beaings in them. The rears fit with a little trimming on the inside of the rims.

BUT, the hex is not as deep as you need it to be.

Rears have a deeper hex, I saw this when getting my TRX wheels.

I don't want to start a war but the fronts and rears hexs are the same... the offset is 9mm different, for a total of 18mm wider... this might be a good thing for cornering.....

From what I saw at the store when I bought mine was that the hex depth was not as deep as the hex depth of the rears, meaning that less of the wheel would sit on the hex/hub which to me creates a weak point.

bro, i have a traxxas electric rustler and there are not hex's on them, they are round to accept a bearing. I have a nitro rustler too and the rims are the same as the electric too, only the rear have a hex in them. 1000%, if you would like i can post pictures of the difference.

the electric fronts do have a bigger offset to the outside of the rim but they cant mount on the 12 mm hex since they are round and meant to take a bearing.

sorry, but your wrong... the XL-1 electric rusty has hex fronts, and the hex depth is the same as the rears.... I measured mine and they are the same.... the nitro rusty has the bearings in wheels, the xl-1 rusty has the hex.... the front steering blocks have two 5x8 bearings in them (step C-6, C-7 in the assembly manual)....

Yes if you use the nitro steering blocks on the xl-1 electric you wont have a front hex..... but a stock xl-1 rusty has front hex wheels... goto page 13 of the traxxas bandit-rustler assembly manual, and see for your self......

well mr producer, i went to go prove you wrong and take my rustler rims off and you are correct, the front rims on the electric rustler do take hex mount rims, so i am wrong. Guess its been a long time since i took those rims off. the front rims are off set more to the inside of the rim so i think they may be better than the rears but only on the electric rustler, not the nitro.

So are you sorry....?
Just kidding...
I am at Tower Hobbies web site and they do not make a dish style front for the electric, just the nitro....
I think the dish look awesome... and by the way your buggy looks cool with those dish wheels....
the reason I was asking about the fronts is that I am going to purchase a Tornado XL and was looking for a better wheel and tire combo that looks awesome and works better than the stock wheels and tires, and the fronts have a wider offset....
