How to tell engine is reaching max rpm?
Ill admit Im afraid to lean out my SH28 too much, but how do I know its reaching full rpm. If I hold it wide open it seems to miss or cut out as it gets near top speed, if I ease into the throttle to get to he same rpm it does the same thing just not as much. It just doesnt seem to me I should be reaching top rpm in say distances of 100 feet or so? How room should I need to wind this thing out? Off idle is really boggy when its cold but after 1/4-1/2 tank its ok.

make sure your exhauste is sealed and the presure tubes, from the pipe to the tank, and from the tank to the carb are all sealed and make sure the tank lid, is sealing and the output tube from the tank is sealing. I had major problems with all of those things, they will make things a big headake and caused a miss in my engine. oh and make sure the tank is full. yeah sounds a bit on the rich side. When you go WOT it should wind up to max RPMs in seconds. If you have the LSN & HSN dialled in it should be a smooth throttle response & instantaneous launch. Mind you you really shouldn;t be going WOT for more than a few seconds at a time anyway so keep that in mind.
