I personally don't know much abotu Electric cars, that's why we only drop ship them. I have heard so far that they seem to be decent for the money. I would think a 10 year old would have a blast with it, they are deffinatly not the Walmart kind of electric. How ever I think a 10 year old could handle a Shockwave just as easily as it's electric brother.

i bought one for a 12 year old and he has a blast with it!! for an electric its got great speed, and with a 1900 battery he's getting close to 15 minute run times.. a side note though, when you let him try it out be sure to have lots of open space...
