Default got buggy for great deal

My friend had an exceed buggy and he blew his engine real quick. Buggy is like brand new i got it with everything except a motor for $50. I think thats great considering it looks like it did when it came out the box. All im doing is swapping the motor back and forth between that and my tsunami. I'll just buy and tornado body and tailwing and secretly say its a redcat lol.

umm, my neighbor sold it to me without the motor. I already took the clutchbell, clutch shoes and spring off his old motor, im sure he'd give it to me if i asked. He didnt use after run oil or filter oil so after a few runs after break in it screwed up. anything i could do with it other then rebuild it?

Send it to redcat under the motor program. You can get a new motor for like 50 or upgrade to the sh motor for 60.

redcat will take it even though its from exceed? i know they're identical motors but i thought you might acually have to have a redcat vehicle bought from a redcat dealer. but if they'll take it i'll send it in and get the .18 SH

If you try that and they don't let me know, I might be interested in the old block.

they wont do it, you need the original packing slip or reciept from your redcat dealer.

I'll do that. It certainly ran good at my house today. It blew away my tsunami by alot. More durable, jumped better, faster. But i love my tsunami still. Its a champ

If you do decide to send me the motor, I'll check it out, if it turns out to be nothing more than a simple problem, I'll just fix it, tune it up and send it back to ya no charge, if it's something like the piston and sleeve needs to be replaced I'll throw you a couple bones or give you store credit for it, which ever works best for you.

if the engine is shot, just pick up a new piston and sleeve and rebuild it, its a good thing to know how to do, its the cheapest way to get you up and going.

Acually i have an exceed infinity truck that im about to finally fix and sell. It only needs an exuast and 4 axles. It has the single speed set up. Think i could take the gear box and clutchbell and swap them out onto my tsunami. Then put the 2 speed in the infinity and sell it on ebay. If you think it will work i may do that. But im assuming the tsunami single speed will be just like my infinity was.

if its the same setup as the volcano truck, its not as good as the clermont single speed. the 2 speed should fit in the buggy with no problem from the tsunami.

Ehroof,

I was messing around with the shift points on the tsunami to see how it would be just in first gear. I will have to say that I am very pleased in just using the single speed. It winds out alot higher and uses more of the motors available rpm's. It runs cooler if it does not shift and I think the top speed is even faster. When it shifts to second it still pulls good but does not seem to rev like it should and motor starts to run a little on the hot side. Just being in first its a rocket. My son said he likes it much better. I may just have to take the second gear out. Less rotating mass, better accelleration.

the stock second gear is too tall, thats why i put the clermont single speed setup in it, i am much happier with it. I got my avalanche today too, lol, i will be making a post and taking some pictures in a little while.
