Body Painting.
I am getting to paint my body for my monsoon today and was it to fade from yellow in front to black in the back. I was wondering which color do I put on first Yellow or black since I am fading it. I have never painted a body before. I also have white and red if anyone has any better ideas. I would rather not mask anything off or too much. Just want it simple.

dont mask, paint the front color first, doe it 2 or 3x's until it covers, then spray the rear color, try not to put too much overspray on the other colors side, here's a couple of my fade paint jobs.

Should I let the first color dry competley before I do the next. I was at clermont hobby yesterday and he showed me some bodies he painted and mentioned that some colors seem to mix when you paint and then turn the whole thing another color. I do not want this to happen. Just want the colors I use and that is it.

candy colors mix, solid colors are ok, i would suggest painting the black first then the yellow since the black can darken the yellow. I usually paint the bodies white when they are done to brighten the colors. also make sure you let the colors dry or at least get tacky before you recoat the same or use the other colors. paint lightly too, you dont need to cover in one coat, its on the inside so no matter what, when finished it will look nice and shiny.

RE: Body Painting.
Thanks for the tips. I just got it painted here at work since I have nothing to do. I think it came out pretty good. Used yellow up front and then a small shade of red and then black all the way to back. I will post some pics this evening when I get home.
NOW I JUST NEED SOME REDCAT STICKERS!!!

That is really dumb. I hope they do not expect people to replace there original bodies with the same original ones they have. I guess I will have to go the graphics place and have some made because other than that no one will no what it is when I am driving it. I guess free advertising is not too much of a concern with them with there cars at the track!

RE: Body Painting.
I like painting the bodies on Red Heads because you can get such a beautiful contrast to the hair........lol
Look through the bodies of other cars and trucks HPI Traxxas etc and order a decal sheet that looks close, just make sure there the same size as the body your trying to match 1/10 or 1/8..........graphics shops can be expensive[8D]

RE: Body Painting.
Here is another body I just painted today for one of my buggies. I actually masked it off and did not blend it. Getting better eh? I painted the red first and then the yellow and then painted the white on top of them before painting the black thinking if I did not it would make the two colors darker. If that was right I do not know but it worked.

RE: Body Painting.
It is a nice buggy but you have to drive it alot different than other buggies. I actually ran my hurricane and a 8ight this past tuesday and I was alot faster with my hurricane then the 8ight. It depends on the track. If it is a smooth track with flowing jumps I am faster with the 8ight but on a smaller more bumpy track I am finding myself faster with the hurricane. If I have to push hard I am also faster with the hurricane. I have heard a saying with the 8ights and that is smooth driving is fast and if you push too hard you go slower. I find that true since I am faster with the hurricane when I have to push it hard.

Hell I am just putting a redcat sh.28 motor in mine. I think it is a great motor for a real cheap price and are extremely cheap to rebuild.
