Monsoon Review Is Live
The Monsoon RCU is back online. The other one I posted a few weeks back was the preliminary review. Here is the final as it is live on the RCU site now.

RE: Monsoon Review Is Live
I still do not know where they get off saying the thing is heavy? It weighs the same as most other truggies and then they say beware where you drive it becuase of its sheer mass is dangerous?!! What was he doing, where magnifying glasses while driving it? Those to things he said are stupid and will hurt its sales when people read that. He does not know what he is talking about!

The review was very positive overall. The few comments about the weight and some other things are no biggie. No review is perfect.
Things like the "King of Bashing" and some other great remarks in the review make it clear how the car is.
We will also send him a new gear setup when we get them so he can update the review when they become standard on the cars in a few months.

That was are good review. Alot of positive aspects were mentioned. I also watched the video and couldn't get over how well it moved and flew through the air. THe landings were very soft looking and straight.
Nice truggy

YAWN! Well it's 7:15am and I wake up to an email telling me to come defend my review in the redcat section, so here I am.
I could usually care less about defending what I write in reviews because as a writer, you'll never please everybody. I've learned that especially writing for RCU (I also write for RC Car Action Magazine)
Some people get really upset when you point out a flaw, or even make a generalization, about their beloved rc vehicle that the've sunk hundreds of dollars into but it comes with the territory; EVERY vehicle is going to have issues, I just point them out in the reviews, and try not to dwell on them.
With that being said, let me address the "heavy" remark; I have ALOT of rc vehicles, so many that Ive resorted to storing them under the bed, in the closet, on shelves, and even at the girlfriend's house. I have a gauge to measure a vehicle against others....It's not just guessing. When I pulled the Monsoon from it's box, I noted that it felt heavy, and was large. Larger than my 8ight-T and my Raze ST, and felt heavier than both. At the track, when I was testing, total strangers would approach with interest in the Monsoon. They would pick it up and say "wow, it's heavy". That happened many times from guys/racers that had not heard the others say that. Maybe the numbers are close on paper, but the "feel" of it is what I noted, and I stick with my statement that the Monsoon is a heavy truck. Will it hurt sales as one guy said? I doubt it, it's a positive review and the video proves it.
Now, about the "sheer mass is dangerous" statement; c'mon, it's just filler, and a true statement no matter if your a newbie or if you sleep with your truck and drink nitro with your cheerios. It was just a cute little statement about the size and speed of a nitro truck...didnt mean to ruffle feathers by it.
In closing, I will say that Redcat is unique; they have more of a cult following than any brand Ive seen. The fans of Redcat Racing are diehard, and Im one too. Im quick to defend Redcat from those that have never operated one but are SURE that they know its junk. The Monsoon is no exception, its a quality rig and I noted it in the review. Darin, send me the updated clutch and Ill definately update the review to reflect a much better top end. I also look forward to doing more Redcat vehicles for you guys.
Thanks
Matt

Now I know what you meant, and everyone else will. To me it just made it seem like you were saying it was big and heavy compared to other truggies and alot of racers would not want that. But thanks for the info and besides MY misunderstanding it is a good review.

Thanks Matt,
You really did not have to post here as I know how editorial works but this just shows that you are now part of the cult.
I will add you to the cult newsletter and give the specific day when we all must drink our juice.
Have a good one my friend.
