SNAPPED EXAUST HEADER BOLT!!
OK big problem, i was taking my stock exaust header off so i could put a new gasket and round header on. Got the first bolt off no problem. The 2nd bolt was extremely tight and very hard to get off. I finally got it to start unscrewing but it was still very hard to un screw. It wasnt stripped or anything. Then, THE TIP OF THE BOLT SNAPPED OFF!![&o] There was a little peice sticking out that i could barely grab. So i tried heating it up with a saudering iron to loosen the locktight and tried turning it out with vice grips. It didnt move at all. The vice grips were just stripping it out. I dont think i have a tapping kit that small to tap it out
Any ideas how to get it out?? or am i screwed

I hate to say it but personally i think you are about screwed. Even if you had a tap that size you would have to very very very carefully drill out the old bolt and then tap and that metal is very soft i belive. depending on how much room there is you might be able to drill it out and then tap it slightly larger but and i cant stress this enough you may be screwed. you might just maybe be able to slot the bolt and unscrew it but i doubt it I would probly use the redcat engine replacement discount instead of going through all that hassle and still not be able to get it out or worse make it worse. Just my oppinion but there you go.

If you broke the bolt off in the head pipe thats no big deal. Just get longer screws and some nuts. go right through the motor/exhaust.

OH, ya, he has a good point. The bolt pretty much has to be broken off in the header pipe, there's no threads in the block, if you can't get it out of the header pipe and you can't drill it out, just get a new header pipe, no need for new engine if the old one is good and all you need is a header pipe.

the engine is the problem. This bolt is sticking all the way through the screw hole and out a little one end. Not enough to grab and screw out.

I'm confused now, lol. You should be able to take the other bold out, like eclipse said and just pull the header away from the engine?????

RE: SNAPPED EXAUST HEADER BOLT!!
is there no thread on the motor part?? i thought there was thread on the header and the motor. all i know is its stuck in the motor . I have the header off, it came off fine. when i unscrewed the bolt, the header was moving out instead of the screw moving out. So the bolt didnt move a whole bunch, thats why its still sticking out on the side that the header goes onto.
I just got some B-day money and have about 70 bucks left over from the other hobby supplies i bought today, this might just be a good excuse for me to get an SH motor like cen said.
I'm going to go try and get it out 1 more time. Cross your fingers

There are no threads in the engine. You should be able to get it off no problem as long as the other bolt is completly out, there's nothing left to hold in place.

Ok yea i saw in the 2nd screw whole that there is no thread. For some reason, that bolt is locked in there. IDK what could holding it in if there is no thread. I tried heating it up to loosen some lock tight, then that didnt work. I tried WD40, and putting a small screw driver on this top of broken bolt and hammering it out. It didnt move a bit. Since there is no thread, i geuss i just drill it out.

there are threads in the header, not in the engine. i guess thats why i thought it was still on the engine, i see above where you say there are not threads so you couldnt figure out why you cant get it out.

Get a very small punch and punch it out te other side. The screw may have been bent or just the lock tight is holding it in. Either way the punch should work.

i am confused, is the screw in the header? if so then the header has threads so i dont think that a punch would work. i mean youcould try but you will destroy the threads and most likely destroy the manifold.

It could be possible that the bolt is twisted in the hole and that's what's lodging it in there. Try what Erhoof said and see if it will twist at all.
