Have you checked temps at all durring break in. If you dont pay attention to your temps durring break in it is very easy to overheat teh motor. And if you do it several times you can easily loose the pinch in the cylinder. Also you may have to replace the glow plug 2-3 times durring break in. Change the plug and try again.

if you dont have a temp gun, put a little water or spit on the head of the engine while your running it and see what happens, if it sizzles right away, its too hot, if it sits and evaporates in a few seconds your ok. if it sizzles you need to richen the mixture.

if it runs good and not hot, dont worry about it. thats alot of turns out though, i think you have an air leak, i would suggest spraying some fuel around the base of the carb, backplate and see if the idle changes, if it does then thats where your leak is. spray a little at a time, maybe put some fuel in an old, clean windex bottle.

you may have your low needle set to lean or rich, it should be flush with the collar and the high end should be 2 1/2 out. i would set it to these settings, watch these videos about tuning and see how it works for you. you may just have you low end needle too lean.

i am pretty sure there is a rubber o ring on the needle, i never took mine out on the vx but most if not all have a rubber o ring on them. 280 is hot, unless your giving it a beating and its warm out.

bro, maybe your tank is clogged, there has been a few problems with clogged tanks, maybe your fuel flow is restricted, take the fuel line off the carb and off the exhaust, blow in the exhaust line and see how the fuel comes out of the other side, there may be a little restriction, not much, if its hard to get fuel to come out, thats the problem, clogged tank.

i only ran it like three min. to get it that hot.inside the needle there is a o ring but im talking about the fuel line were the needle valve goes though the little ring at the end of the fuel line.if it needs washer there cause it has one on top but not the bottom.

i got sick of not being able to drive my car.so went and order a new motor.i got the o.s. 18 .every one said that its way bet and faster with more power then the vertex 18 that was in there.so is it really as much faster as everyone says it is?so what can i check next on my motor that i have?i don't just want to get rid of it i still want to try to get it fixxed.and everyone said that a .26 motor was to much power and it would tare my car apart is that true?
