Default pull start string broke

I was pullin' it and the string broke. What can I use as a replacement string? I guess from all the friction, it eventually wore out. I was thinking something that is stronger. Kite string?

Default RE: pull start string broke

hey man i had the same problem with my volcano sv pro it has the infinity .18 in it. as far as the kite string i dont know i think that would be even easier to break you can buy a replacement from traxxas or your LHS (just the string) and that works awesome thats what i did when mine broke. you just pull the pullstart off take it apart carefully so the spring doesnt come out and put new string in and rewind and then put back on engine. it can be a little tricky but can be done (have had to redo mine about 7-8 times so far, first the spring broke and then the string and then the spring keeps coming out of the holder on the back of pullstart) so be really careful with the spring and you should be fine.

I ended up getting some mason twine at home depot for like $4, and you get a couple hundred meters of it. It's nylon too like the one at towerhobbies. should work great.

I had the same issues with my sons' car and I used the exact same "mason line" and it was only good for a few pulls be for it broke again. I think the cord is to course and when rubbing againt things will wear faster then smoother cord.

I fixed mine with the cord from an old retractable dog leash.a small one of coarse, but it is a lot better than the little original.
