Front/rear shock tower
what is the best/cheapest way to improve on the strength of the shock towers? by buying the upgraded shockproof ones or by buying 2 of the regual ones and modifying and bolting them together (exceed 1/10 nitro buggy= redcat tornado) does anyone have pics of the upgraded shckproof towers also?
Thx

For the BB i didn't run into a problem with the screws and shocks, but i did run into problems with the hinge pins, rear upper suspension arm all being too short.

I got it from the scrap bin - it's standard material used in aircraft repairs. If you know anyone who works for an airline or aircraft manufacturer, they might be able to get some. Or, you might be able to buy it from "aircraft spruce and specialty" on line...
The material is 7075-T6 AlClad aluminum sheet

RE: Front/rear shock tower
You're right, that is pricey. I see that the $48 price is for 3/8 inch thick plate, that is too thick unless you machine it down. You only need 0.100 inch thick sheet or plate. That web site doesn't have .100 thick 7075-T6 sheet; they only have 6061-T6, which is about 1/2 the strenght of 7075-T6 - and the towers are already made of 6061-T6, so that's not a good solution. I found another on line store that carries a 12" x 12" sheet of 0.100 thick 7075-T6 for about $23. You could easily make the two shock towers out of that amount.
