yes it does and it will outhandle it in a hearbeat, the saveage will flip easily, the avalanche will hold its ground and has fantastic air control.

The Avalanche is the best handling monster truck that I have ever driven. It sticks like glue in the corners, it jumps absolutley awsome and the speed is impressive. It will easily hang with the savage and easily outhandle the savage. If you ask about this in any other forum you will get alot of crap. No matter what they say its a great truck.

As far as motor wise the savage will out run it, but they are both good machines.

My buddy has the savage x and it smokes mine. Especially now that the motor is blown with only 7 tanks through it! And yes I had it tuned properly. I will say that I could get him out of the hole and out of corners but, top speed, he walks by me. As for the handling I have to agree with the others, it handles great.

Cheeba, in the other post, you stated that you were running extra rich when the engine blew... wouldn't that have an effect on performance?

i dont know what savage it was but i would put my stock avalanche against any stock savage, it would definately beat it off the line and by the time it hit second gear it may just catch up the the avalanche.

I have been trying to decide what truck to get for racing, I was thinking either the revo or the savage x ss or the avalanche.......decisions, decisions.... I think I'm gonna go for the avalanche so I can race 2 redcats ( it and my cane) but I may have to get a savage for bashing cuase I'm in love with the real truck look they have goin for them, which I don't really like about the avalanche and the revo. From what I can tell the savage would be dead meat against the avalanche or the revo on a track To be honest I'll prob get a savage next fall as a kit and make that my winter project...... I just really like theses cute little buggers..... I'm ADDICTED to NITRO!!!!

Also there is something about showing up at a track with "chinese knock offs" and running up front with the big dogs, some of you guys know what I'm talking about...LOL I have even thought about putting the MSRP of each of the redcats on the body so they can see they're being beat by a rc that costs half the money theres did....OK maybe thats going to far but its a fun thought to entertain...

Yeah that would affect performance but, when I had the truck running close to perfect, I could visually tell that his was faster. His is the savage x 4.6

Shoota,

Here is my opinion ont eh savage and avalanche. As everyone knows the Savage is the be all end all basher. No doubt about that. BUT it dont handle worth the crap. Its a great truck with out a doubt and it will handle anything you put in front of it except a track and races.

Now for the Avalanche. It needs some tweaking for it to be bash worthy. Slight steering mod, shock oils, diff fluids and maybe some good wheels. I have to say that the Avalanche is the BEST handling monster truck that I have ever driven. I got my son one, did the needed adjustments and installed a Sportwerks .26V2 and it absolutly hauls *****!!! I have a a truggy that I am going to race with starting in the spring and I can tell you that I have a hard time pulling away from it in a race. If my son were a more experienced driver I believe that it could easily hang and maybe even beat me in a race. Its quicker and handles just as good as my truggy. The Avalanche has a truggy platform with monster truck wheels and body. Why other companies have not done this I dont know. Its an awsome ides. The center of gravity is real low, takes huge jumps like a pro and stick like glue on the turns.

Now Im not in any way saying that it is a better basher than the Savage. Its kinda the best of both worlds. Great basher with superb handling. It would easily beat any monster truck on the track including the revo and thats no joke! Thats how well it handles. So for the money, minor adjustments and minor mods you cant beat it. Either one would be a good choice but I like to be different so I got my son the avalanche and he loves it.

I'd say get a savage, ive seen first hand the beatings these things can take. If you can't afford it then save up a little more mula. Don't get me wrong the avalanches are great trucks just out of the box the aluminum is soft and the radio gear is cheesy at best. Not jumping my avalanche 1 metre high i have bent shock towers, rear hinge supports, 2 dead steering servos. Out of the box the fuel tank was cracked on 1 of my avalanches.

EDIT: With that being said, minus the low quality parts on the truck it is built great, handles fantastically and is great for the price.

bash, you have the redcat avalanche or another version of it? if so, just want you to know that redcats come with a digital fm radio system, metal gear steering servo, sh.28 engine, chrome tuned pipe and a few other upgrades that dont come with the exceeds/himoto/hsp cars. I would take the avalanche over the savage hands down.
