Default brushless in tsunami

just wanted to let you guys know i tried the tsunami epx with the brushless system and lipo and its insane, wheelies on demand. so much torque and grip on the tires it actually snapped the hex on one of the rear rims, a little super glue and excellerator and we were up and running, didnt get video since had alot of friends and family visiting my wife today but will get some up asap.

Wheelies on demand huh, that sounds like fun. I can't wait to see a video of that. As you know I am looking into getting an electric and have been torn between the Tornado and Tsunami. I plan on racing it at a local dirt track, what do you think would be better suited for dirt/jumping?? After trying both of them with brushless systems what one do you prefer???

On a side note I picked up a Lightning early this week and am having a ball with it. I swapped out the stock tires for some foams and it handles much better. Fun little car, thanks for the recommendation!

they are both good, i am torn between them since they both perform very well. the tsunami will wheelie since the tires are larger and grab better but the tornado is quicker off the line and will wheelie too if the tires hook up. I have the lightning too but no brushless in it yet, a volcano too. i am just waiting for redcat to get the brushless systems in, they are excellent.

What is the difference in ground clearance between the Tornado and Tsunami? Does the Tsunami have a longer shock travel then the Tornado? I'm just curious what the difference would be between a stock Tsunami and a Tornado with 2.2 tires???

the tsunami is a little more off the ground because of the larger tires and rims and the shocks on the tunami are larger so they have more travel. On jumping they both have good air control but the buggy will bottom out when it lands. I think the buggy is a little more stable then the tsunami but they both handle very good and never flipped, now remember i only ran then a couple of times each.

great bro, welcome to the redcat family. You will love it, just add a lipo to the system and you wont believe the difference, its unbelivable.

Hmmm yeah looks right. Thanks for the link. I will check that out.
In your opinion is it going to run poorly on the nimh or just not be all it could be???
RedCat Dealer told me 55-60 mph on 3000mah nimh bats. Sound right to you?

i dont think so, with the brushless and that 3000 nimh battery, maybe 30-35. With the lipo i am probably pushing 40, thats fast for a 4wheel drive electric rc.

wow.. I'm not feeling so good about my dealer right now!
so how do you think the elec Tsunami compares in power and speed to the nitro Tsunami? Just asking because the dealer told me the elec with the upgrades would be every bit as fast. (but of course he was telling me 55-60)

Any way thanks for the tip on the lipo. Sounds like I am going to want to get one.

with a lipo and brushless setup, the elect tsunami will have better acceleration then the nitro but i would guess top out at the same speed or close to it, i never put them side by side but i will do it one day to see. i would say 40-45mph is about max. Most off road rc's dont hit much more than 40mph.

Thanks for the info ehroof.
Maybe I was a little mis informed.. but the fact remains.. I am still very happy to have one. And my son will love it when he learns how to drive it!

I got an email from the Wife of the dealer. I was told he has been in the hospital and will not be released until this coming weekend at the soonest. She said he handles all of the online orders. She did not say anything about when shipping will resume. I assume not untill he is back and can get to it.

I am excited to see your video. Can't wait to see it wheelie and how fast it is!!
Would you mind letting me know what battery you have in it?

i run it with either a regular 7.2 1800 or larger battery or a 7.4 lipo 4900 mah. I will take a video of each and let you see the difference with the batteries. If you worried or dont want to wait, ask for a refund and order from redcat or another dealer.

Thanks for the offer to video both batteries. That would be great!!
I guess I don't mind waiting.. I hate to take money out of the guys pocket just because he had to go to the hospital... As far as worried... I don't know... guess I just hope it is the truth and nothing fishy is going on.
I am sure everything will be fine.
I will try to copy/paste the email in a PM.. let me know what you think.
