Default Loose throttle? Need some help?

My throttle on the carburator seems to be a little loose. When it start it up it idles good, but when i'm driving around then if i hang on the brake to slow down my car likes to die because when i hit the brake it pulls the throttle back even further. Can i get some opinions, cause i'm new to nitros and i dont know if something should be adjusted or not? Oh ya this is a volcano sv too, if that makes a difference.

maybe this picture will help, if you notice you will see that there is a spring on the back pushing against the servo arm which is pulling the carb shut

ya i know but the spring is still tense enough that it pulls the throttle shut too far.

You might need to adjust were the servo and the wire meet. You want to try and center them and adjust the spring.

that means the idle screw has to be turned in. Or loosen up the grub screw on the throttle arm (near the servo horn and slide the arm closed.

ORIGINAL: perhamrocks

so if i hit the brake and the throttle closes farther that means the gap is to big?

without the truck running, put the electrics on, take off the air filter, hit the brakes, the carb closes right? ok, now you see the screw with the spring, thats the idle screw, you need to turn that clockwise to raise the idle. Turn 1 turn and hit the brake, does it still close the carb all the way? if so turn it another turn and check again, keep doing it until the carb stays open when you hit the brake.
