tsunami epx BAD SHOCKS BIG PROBLEMS!!!
Okay I just purchased a tsunami epx electric truggy yesterday. WOW I think it was a mistake.....SO FAR I have found that all 4 shocks were leaking the GREASE!!!! that was in them out of the bottom of the shocks...WHAT? Brand new truck and the shocks are junk I tried cleaning them up and putting some 60wt shock oil in them and instead of leaking the thick grease slowly around the shafts, it leaked the thinner silicone fluid rather fast. The next problem is that the steering servo is SSLLLOOOWWWWW. also the diffs dont have springs behind the driveshafts so they flop around and when the suspension arms are pushed up...before the chassis bottoms out the driveshafts bind into the diff and stops the suspension from compressing all of the way.....i see this breaking quickly. DID I MAKE A MISTAKE? Or did I just get a bad truck or dont know special "redcat" fixes. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!

small pieces of fuel tubing in the drive cups to hold the dog bones in place and take out the play, i dont know about the shocks, all mine are fine on my redcats. there is a 30 day warranty on the electronics, email them about the shocks and servo, they will make good for it.

I have had many of the plastic shocks for my sons tsunami and they all leak. The aluminum ones do not. Other than that just take up teh slack with the fuel tubing and you should be good.

RE: tsunami epx BAD SHOCKS BIG PROBLEMS!!!
the slack really isnt the problem because they bottom out in the cups before the suspension compresses fully....if i add fuel tubing it will bottom out sooner??
where can i get the aluminum upgrade shocks??

either redcat or one of the dealer may have them. they are the same as the volcano's.
i see redcat is out, you can drop clermontmotorsports.com and email and see if he has them, also shocks from a tmaxx will work too, a few people have used them on their volcano, you just need 4, not 8

Ya, thats cool they are rebuildable, but I haven't even ran my buggy and all 4 leak, STILL with lock-tite and thicker oil, so there obviously is a problem with mine and maybe some others.

I just received a new Tsunami Monday and the shocks are leaking oil too. Just thought it was heavy grease to keep it lubed...it's not. It looks like there is a problem with these shocks.

its best to upgrade to the aluminum shocks or shocks for the tmaxx, my plastic shocks are fine but if they started to leak, i would just upgrade, give a good reason to upgrade.

Yeah, that's what I started thinking after writing that. I'd just be better off splitting the difference and getting an upgraded shock. So now the question is: Which shock is better????

i would say the aluminum ones from redat but they are out of stock, so i would suggest tmaxx shocks, you only need four of them

I replaced all 8 shocks on my Volcano epx with 4 tmaxx shocks. Its amazing how it changed the suspension to one that actually works.

Well, I've had it with these crappy shocks. Removed the springs, there is so much play between the shaft and shock body it's pathetic. There is no amount of oil you can dump into these things that won't just seep out with one compression of the shock. Word of warning to future buyers, your gonna have problems unless Redcat addresses this issue.

Yes the stock plastic redcat shocks are crap. I would be surprised is anyone had a set that didnt leak. Just by looking at how the shocks are built it would be hard to seal them up to work like they are supposed to.

RE: tsunami epx BAD SHOCKS BIG PROBLEMS!!!
Guys these are ready to run cars only, if you want top notch parts then order the upgraded stuff, These cars are sold only to run and what parts are on them works for running them. I paid for a buggy, not knowing to much about RC's and as I learned and bashed I replaced what I needed and realized that it wasn't a buggy I needed for where I live, it was a truggy or truck, so I converted my buggy into a Tsunami all with redcat upgraded parts which work perfect. These are the best things out, I wouldn't have gotten into Nitro RC's if it wasn't for the Great prices Redcat sells them for and I would like to thank them for giving me such a good experience with nitro's and support.
