Redcat dealers?

I was thinking it would sure be nice to have a list of Redcat dealers and their websites or emails somewhere on here. There may have been one at one time, but I haven't found it. Do I have to go to the redcat site and search through their dealer listings or can we get a sticky here and maybe have the dealers put their email address or websites on it. Any thoughts?

    RE: Redcat dealers?

You can locate Redcat Dealers by using the Dealer Locator on Redcat's website

    RE: Redcat dealers?

The dealer locator is not the best information. Example You will find Hobbytown dealers listed there and they will not help you at all when it comes to service or troubleshooting. they dont even carry parts. Some of us who operate small garage/barn based operations do not get listed as dealers, even though the garage type dealers have the most knowledge, experience and willingness to promote the brand or hobby.

    RE: Redcat dealers?

That's exactly the point I was making. It would be so much easier to get a list of dealers on here, and I'd be more likely to buy parts and cars from dealers listed here who take part in this forum than I would from those who don't. So I'm not suggesting a total list of dealers. I'm suggesting making a sticky that the dealers who participate on this forum can put their email or website on so the rest of us can contact them for parts and service much easier. It would bring them business as well as make it easier for us to spend our money.

    RE: Redcat dealers?

Well, here's the deal. That would be considered advertising by RCU and that is not allowed, unless us dealers pay for it, we are not allowed to advertise for free. Matter of fact anyone selling anything is not allowed to advertise it on RCU unless they are paying for one of the many ads you see, like the one Redcat has on the forum at the top and I think they have a few others through out RCU.

    RE: Redcat dealers?

I would have to agree, the Redcats dealer locater is pretty much worthless. It only brings up one dealer for me and they are not even a Redcat dealer. I think they should list the online dealers on there and just put a note that its an online dealer. I believe most internet dealers including myself are more then willing to meet customers in person to show the product.

    RE: Redcat dealers?

That would work. Another idea would be maybe the internet store dealers and other dealers who are on here a lot could put "Redcat Dealer" in their signature, along with contact email and website address. Or even if it just had Redcat dealer then we could look at their profiles for email and websites. Would that break the rules?

Hence the reason we only have dealer for so and so.... or the name of our business in our sigs. As you can see clermont has clermont hobbies in his sig and I have dealer for so and so....... and bluecaka has Bodies by blue and I believe kuppler has has 805 Hobby or hobbies and affordablerc has his name and so on.

    RE: Redcat dealers?

Ok... so you can't advertise in the threads, I get that.

How about and off-site list? We link products from other companies all the time, would be very similar.

If I could figure out how to use the free webspace from my ISP, I'd be willing to assemble it.

  17. #17

    RE: Redcat dealers?

You can't do that either. You can't redirect traffic AWAY from RCu to a specific website, BUT you can put a link to a SINGLE product that fits the topic of the thread.

So if say I was to come on and ASK Who is a redcat dealer or does anyone have a LINK to some redcat dealers then you could put some links to dealers or

if say I was to come on and ask for a specific part like say I need a set of 0849 (front lower A-Arms for the volcano SV). Then you can put a link to the spcified product on whatever website.

It;s kind of frowned upon for a dealer to personally place a link to said prduct, yes I'm guilty of doing it ALOT in the past, but I have over the last year and a half learned the error of my ways and changed that. However there is the occasion where someone asks over and over for help or a link and no one gives it to any website, so in that case I would say it's ok so the thread starter doesn't have to keep suffering over and over, lol, seen it happen, poor guy.

There alot of rules about lins and posting links, but they are there to protect RCU and it's investment, to help keep you informed about your specific product.

    RE: Redcat dealers?

Thanks for the info guys. I had no idea there were so many rules. I'll just compile a list as I go for my own reference. I've emailed a few that I've found along the way and with a very few exceptions, response is very quick and prices are comparable. Thanks again.

    RE: Redcat dealers?

Redcat forum, Redcat is an RCU advertiser, Redcat dealers buy their parts & product from Redcat... I don't see the problem with a comprehensive dealer list. Whatever, them's the rules... I'll play nice.

Doesn't stop me from making my own personal list and emailing it to whomever requests it. (Not yet! Just a thought, for now)

    Yeah, I'm grumpy today[:@]

EDIT: Now wait a min. here... here is a quote from the rules. Competing with RCU would be another forum, no?
POSTING LINKS:
Our policy on linking to other websites is pretty simple. Members may link to any other site that provides information that helps answer another member's question or is just of specific interest to members of that particular forum. One of the most basic tenets of the Web is the open exchange of information, and the RCU forum managers wholeheartedly support this type of exchange. Members may NOT link to sites which require registration or membership to view the content, including offsite chat room discussions.

The only other type of linking (besides porn and spam as mentioned previously above in our rules, of course) that will not be allowed on our site is when members solicit people to leave our site to a competing service. That's just common sense. We won't allow people to use our site to promote a competing service any more than a brick-and-mortar store would allow his competitor to paste flyer's all over his walls. However, people are always welcome to link to any non competing online resource in order to share useful information with fellow members.
After reading that I happen to think that there was at one time a comprehensive list of dealers in the exceed forum at one time and it was a sticky I believe. You should pm Rcken and as him about it.
