Default single speed vs. 2 speed .....vx.16 vs .18

hey there folks.

just got an Exceed "hyperspeed" vx .16 single speed buggy as a going away present from my boss (much better than a box of cashews!)

I obviously didn't pick out the car-as it was a present...upon further research i though that I wanted to upgrade the trans to a 2 speed...but now i seem to see nothing but problems with the 2 speeds sticking in gear and getting generally bummed up...and some people even say that the singles are better for off road....what is the difference in the speed capability of the two?....is the 2 speed alot faster in the top end?...or is it negligible.?

also is the vx.16 engine that much inferior to the .18?.....or is it just a minor jump up in performance to get the .18?.....

I'm totally happy to just take my time getting into this and eventually wear out what I have to upgrade one peice at a time,,will the .18 be a considerable upgrade if i burn up the .16 in time....or what would be a good jump from the .16 ?

thanks in advance
Stephen

the vx .16 is a good engine, the .18 is not that much more powerful, uprgrade to an sh or an os .18. stay away from the 2 speeds, very unreliable, stick with the single speed, the 2 speed will have more top end but alot of aggravation with it too.

so the "hyperspeed" is a pretty good car for the price hey?.....being that the single speed is good enough...etc etc.....i mean , I hear that alot of minor parts are prone to break pretty frequently .....but thats half the fun right ...I drive a vw and always have...so i'm ready for some busted sh#$ that is fun to fix!!

thanks for the quick reply Ehroof

much appreciated.
