Default AM radio voltage

I have a JR AM radio. When the voltage drops from using the batteries ,at what voltage should i change the batteries?

I have a futaba 2PL and the book on it says when the battery gets down to or below 9.5 volts to recharge or change batteries

yes, below 9.6, usually the jr will start to beep when low too
