They are a little more money, but try to get one with a laser sight on it. We use them in our shop to test turbo temps and the like. You can find them on ebay. I don't know if you have a Harbor Freight in your area but they are a tool store that have great prices.

lee that might actually be a decent deal...I got a friend that buys some stuff from hf and has pretty decent luck with it...not much more then a duratrax...

harbour frieght is the place to go, they have cheap tools also, there not as sturdy as say craftsman or mac or anything like that but they do the job

I stay away from their hand tools...I bust my knuckles enuff....but we have used their battery powered impacts on race car wheels for 5 yrs now and they still runnin strong

My thinking is that the smaller the diameter, the more accurate the measurement is.
Is my thinking backwards? Does 1:2 mean at 1 inch it measure a diameter of 0.5 inch?

Get the O'donell TGX1 i love it it is about 30$ hear in canada but down there i saw it as cheep as 15 or 20$
it is a good one... it has a stop watch, C and F for the US and Canada, Changeable emissivity rateing so you can get a proper Read out with difrent materials...
