Default Cleaning The Gas Tank After 4 Months Of Non Use

I put my truck away for the winter and its time to get it back out. I realised I had about a 1/8 of a tank in there, I took the pressure port and hooked it to the outlet so the gas couldnt go anywhere. now I need to clean it. Should I remove it and use carb clean or brake clean or something to clean it?

Thanks

hmmm...I'm new to this but I think ya just need to dump the fuel out...then maybe put a lil fresh in and slosh it around then dump it and ur good to go...if u have a inline filter u might wanna check it...pay close attention to ur fuel lines...just give em a good look...other then that u can prolly feed ur nitro addiction..lol

You Might have some trouble starting your engine.
When Nitro fuel evaporates(like after 4 months, lol) it leaves Thick Sticky residue. It might clog the jets in your carb.

I agree with red leaving nitro that long will gum up.I'd try priming through the carb first with fresh nitro (long as your plug is good)dump the old stuff out of your tank course. Be sure to use after run oil.

i think carb cleaner might be a little harsh on it. but you probably could use is 90 % rubbing alcohol to break up the residue from the old nitro fuel. just pour it in and shake it around real good, then pour it out and do it one more time to get out the rest of the old stuff. after that i'd slosh some fresh fuel in it and pour that out dry it real good and you should be good to go.

Ranger don't you think just emptying the tank then getting fresh nitro through it would be better. Prime it through the carb cause you know it will fire long as the glow plug is good. I'm just thinking using any alcohol or solvent may cause damage. Then use some after run.

very true, but i was thinking to get rid of that residue of the old nitro. it might gum up the carb. the alcohol would break it up and get it out of there. the alcohol would only be in there for a minute or 2. but fresh nitro could do the job just as well if it's not too bad.

I think if his glow plug is good the fresh nitro will clean out the system. If not then alcohol would be a good way to clean it out. May take 1 to 5 primes but worth not using alcohol.

Rubbing alcohol will work great. You really do not want the film left buy the fuel in it. The carb will hold up to carb and choke cleaner, im not sure about the fuel tank tho, so again the rubbing alchole will work ,it will evaperate very quick and leave nothing behind
