Tower (who has good tech data when you need it) says they are 12mm hex, 1" wide and 2 1/2" in diameter.
[link=http://www.redcatracing.com/itemdetail.asp?basepartno=LIGHTNING]http://www.redcatracing.com/itemdetail.asp?basepartno=LIGHTNING[/link]
Redcat says the stock lightning tires are 26mm wide (about an inch) and 65mm diameter (about 2 1/2").
I do not have a lightning, but if their hexes are 12mm like the other Redcat vehicles, I would guess those tires and wheels would work.

We only use our cars for drifting and if that is the case jb weld is perfect. Its a preference thing. Yes jb weld is perminent but thats the route we went because thats all we use the lightnings for.
So I guess I am not very smart lol

islandturbos,
The photo posted by ranger a couple of posts above is the diff assembly that is inside the gearbox. Refer to the exploded views in the manual. I posted a link to a manual at the end of this post for your reference. Give it some time when going to this link as it is a big pdf that takes some time to download. Look at the exploded views of the front and rear gear boxes on page 15 of the manual in the link.
You need to remove the gear box from the vehicle. Remove the cover of the gear box (#10 in the exploded view). Then you will see the diff assembly inside that is in ranger's photo above. Pull out the whole assembly and remove the 4 small screws (#17) that hold the ring gear (#4) on to the diff box (#9). Once the ring gear is off, you will see the planetary gears (#11) inside. That is where you put the "stuff" to completely lock the differentials reversibly or irreversibly. Then reassemble the diff assembly, put it back inside the gear box, put the cover back on and reinstall the gear box in the vehicle.
Good luck!

nubzorz,
We did not say they would not work. I said they were almost exactly the same as the stock tires in width and diameter. My only uncertainty was whether the lightning has 12mm hexes. AllAboutFunHobbies said any 26mm x 12mm hex tire would work. The Tamiyas you are looking at are exactly that - 26mm x 12mm hexes.
By the way, I fixed the link to the Tower data in my original post.

dont use playdough either it dries out very quickly and i heard it rusts metal pretty easy since it takes the oils off of it
