Default I'm ADDICTED!

hello all. been posting here and there and I gotta tell ya. I'm totally hooked on the RC nitro trucks. Already lookin at gettin another, mostly for backup when one is down for maintenace/upgrades/parts replacement. How many of ya started like me and ended up with a whole garage (well, several trucks and cars) of Nitro RC? Granted I just got one 3 weeks ago, but definately want to get at least 2 more. Buggy and another Truck. Possibly a car, but feel I might be restrictive to just the road. It's a learnin curve for me, but with internet, how to's and friends, Im gettin the hang of it. i'm sure i'll have to go through all the headaches like the rest.

Default RE: I'm ADDICTED!

i'm the same way.
i got my first electric r/c (a tamiya subaru brat) back in the early 80's. i had several other ones after that, but they were all electric.
i got out of the hobby in the late 80's and sold everything.
I just now got back into it and i bought an electric truck about 2 years ago (duratraxx evader).
i picked up a couple of tamiya super blackfoot trucks as well.
something caught my eye about the nitro trucks, so i bought a volcano sv in jan. of this year.
i wasn't able to run it until may, due to the weather. but now that i have ran it about 10 times, i am already wanting another one. (and if it would quit raining, i'll run it some more).
Nitro is a blast, even tho it is alot more work than an electric.
Nitro is a bit exotic....almost anyone who has an r/c has an electric, but when people see that you have nitro, they are amazed by it.

I hear ya, but with my other 2 hobbies, this is the least expensive venture. I got into road/mountain biking few years ago. did so many upgrades, races, and bikes, i've easliy put 10k or more into the sport. My side hobby/business is photography. i spent some serious $$ on DSLR, studio equipments, lens, etc...but i do a photoshoot ever weekend so i'm getting my money back from that. got a Volcano fro $199. next purchase might be a landslide, savage, or T-Maxx. any of them will be significantly cheaper from the other 2 hobbies. Granted, i checked out the tmaxx and savage parts replacement, I'll definately have to seriously consider purchasing those cuase the parts is definately not cheap, but a redcat or himoto is easily attainable. hell, i got a shopping wish list in rufaster and it's little over $200, which is definately not bad for upgrades. The least expensive engine I saw on the HPI was around $200. wow!

Ya ive always been into rc since i was a wee lad, but never anything really good. My gf picked one up for me on christmas of 07. And ive gone through tons of them. Buying and selling. Now i just got the 1/8th scale buggy, the 1/10th nitro truck, and the electric 1/10th truck. Had to cut back to only the ones i really wanted haha. Gf was gettin pretty mad. Its in your blood now, everything is rc, drivin down the road, you'll be thinkin, man that would be sick to bash on haha.

By the way i would get the avalanche if i were you, the landslide is an ultralite, so the parts are thinner, and is more likely to break. The avalanche is a great basher, and is also good on the track

Dude, Chevy...Im already doin that lol. I live on the outskirts of Atlanta (Gwinnett county) so housing was booming at the time. now that the housing dev crashed, there are so many places I can run my RC! scoped out 5 places over the weekend and all have great courses to run! just waiting on some parts and i'm headin to one of them before i do a photoshoot. lol, the model is gonna smell nitro all over me. hahahaha

Haha thats funny, my gf always gives me sh** cause wherever we go im like, man that would be sick to run at, or i just bring it up. And she just rolls her eyes. I actually let her drive my electric at the track the other day, and she admitted that she kinda wants one.

i forgot to mention that i have 2 other hobbies as well. i build model cars...all custom ones. i have been doing that for about 20 years or so on and off i would guess.
i also have a 55 pontiac custom that i take to shows and drive around in the summer.
nitro is just a small portion of my hobbies, but it's a blast.

Yeah I got into the hobby mainly for my son. Now I'm gonna have to buy one for him or me. He's still too young to drive one of these things, but he just loves the sound of the engine and speed. I'll prob get him an electric so he can fun on it as well. something cheap so he can learn.

Default RE: I'm ADDICTED!

nice paintjob.
it looks like the wheel base on the body is a tad too short, but there probably isn't much you can do about that.
it still looks good tho.
here's my volcano.[img][/img][img][/img]
and since you have your 1:1 hummer on there, here's my 55 pontiac.
[img][/img][img][/img].
sorry if the pics. are huge, this is the only way that i know how to post pics.
