Why would you want to change the hubs? The Volcano all ready comes with aluminum hubs. I can see doing the CVD's for the Volcano but with those hex hubs the Volcano is not going to be as wide.

Don't CVD's break easier than the dog bones?

Not really easier to break. IMO CVD's do wear out faster then regular dog bones though. The CVD pins in the cv joint wear out kind of fast and that is what makes them fail most times. Cvd' might not outlast regular bones in the long run but they do have many advantages over regular dog bones and it usually makes them better. I like to use CVD's in my own cars and trucks. Putting Cvd's in the rear of a vehicle does not do much for a car, CVD's in the front is another story. The reason why they work good in the front is because regular dog bones work fine with 1 axis travel like in the rear (suspension up and down travel) In the front not only do you have the up and down travel of the suspension but you also have the tire that turns left and right at the same time so it has 2 axis. Well when you use a regular dog bone in the front they will work, but they will have some amount of bind during times of 2 axis movement (up and down suspension travel and steering the car at the same time) the cvd's offer less binding so it will take less effort to turn the wheel and it will be a lot smoother.

definitely want to have cvd's in the front on a race setup. Usually if you are going to lose a dogbone it is the combination of landing a jump with the wheels turned which you will be doing alot of during racing. In reply to urc hobby about changing the hexes i understand about the wideness of the volcano maybe he just wanted the pretty colors. One other thing the original hexes don't have the slot indentation for the pin and like i said in a previous post a pin will keep the hex from sliding on the shaft as compared to the original set screws.
