Default Volcano S30 Steering Servo

Just me again...I recently purchased a Volcano S30 and the steering servo was screwed right off the bat...No worries..Redcat stepped up and is currently shipping me a replacement..But....I was wondering if anyone knew of a direct fit high speed servo that I could replace it with after the new one dies..??...A part # and whereI can buy it would be ideal.....Does RedCat offer one for this vehicle..??
It has to be a direct fit......I don't want to have to modify anything..if possible
Thanks in advance
Jamie

The steering servo in a volcano is a standard size with futaba J connector. If you get a new servo go for a servo that has a high torque, A high speed servo is always good to have but the main thing is you really want a servo with more torque oz in. For a good servo that offers a fast speed with good torque and is not the expensive look at a Hitec HS-625MG

you can get servos at any local hobby shops, but better yet ebay. the HS-625MG is a metal geared servo, it lasts longer and the gears do not strip as easily. I have one. You can also look into the JR Z590m (also metal geared).

the thing you will have to look into though are the connector types, Hitec and JR uses different spline count on their servos, so you can't interchange the servo arms or servo saver.

the steering servo arm on my redcat can be used with Traxxas servos only.

here's an excellent resource on servos from misbehavin, part 2 has information about the spline count:

The Skyion G82122 hi torque servo from a Cen is by far the best bang for buck in terms of strong servos. 1440z. of torque and all metal gears is plenty for a Volcano. I use one in my savage and its heeps better than the stocker. There are plenty of them on ebay and they go for super cheap. I picked mine up for only $12usd.

its the right size/strength.
Only issue might be that the stock servo horns might not fit on the traxxas servo' spline. But you can just use a different servo horn if thats the case.

yes, it should be strong enough for both steering and throttle.

You might have to call or email Redcat on this one. The complete carb is listed but not just the needle. There are several parts that you won't find in the parts list or on the schematics, but usually an email will get you an answer.
