Default Redcat 1/8th 8E Touring Car Build

Hey guys, I am building a 1/8th scale touring car. I am using the 8e chassis and adding a Protoform 1/8th body, Mugen 17mm black star wheels and GRP rubber tires. It is the perfect size to do this and looks crazy with the clear shell already! I will post some pics of the car very soon. Just imagine 1/8th brushless touring car [:-]

I marked them, then drilled the holes. Always check and recheck where they are at, then drill. I drill very slow at first so the bit doesnt walk.

The body is all airbrushed with spaz stix and faskolor paints on the inside. The lights and grille on this one are decals though, I havent had alot of extra time. I was hopeing to run it this weekend but when I woke this morning.... everything is white outside!! Its is winter here in Michigan I guess.

Zielke, so what all did ya have to do to get it to "sit" like a touring car? Seems like the buggy chassis would ride too high for a touring car? But yours looks perfect! Looks like you even raised the ride height a little with the shock collars?? Nice build BTW!!
Also, does the 8E come with all that blue aluminum or did you add it?(hub carriers mainly) Thanks for the info!!I cant get over how good it looks!WIsh they had an 1/8 touring class around here..

Hey Mick! Check out my aftershock build, shows all the hop ups I installed. All the blue aluminum and the shocks are Redcat Hopups. I will be selling both of them to start on a new project.

Ok,Im confused.. (what else is new, right) :P I saw the aftershock 8e build.. (I see the hops ups! It's sweet!) But is this one the same chassis or did you build 2 of em?? But anyway, the TC wheels and tires is all it needs to ride like a touring car huh? Help me understand!! lol..

I built two of them exactly the same except the car has different wheels, tires and shell thats it. To lower for touring car I added 4 grub screws in all 4 a-arms. There are holes pre drilled from redcat for this. This is something that many rc cars have that are 4wd. This allows you to set your ride height. The farther you turn the screws in the lower your chassis sits to the ground. There are 4 sopts on the chassis that hit the screws below the a-arms. I used M4x10 screws, there are no heads on these just the allen head mounted in the top center of the screw allowing it to screw into the a-arm without any limits.

Oh ok, so there were actuallytwo of em!! Im with ya now! Adding those grub screws for the ride height is kewl!! Looks like the chassis was meant for thatTCbody!(You may of just given Redcat their next 1/8 RC!!)Both builds turned out sweet!! (Even though I never did see the "painted" Aftershock??) Hint Hint!!

Zielke,

Did you do those air brushed flames yourself? By hand? That is one damn fine job, bro!

Yes, I painted the flames on the shell. I am a full time painter.

I will have some video once the snow around here is gone, its been a long winter already and we have another storm watch for today and tonight.

@ZielkeRacing, can you post a pic of what you're talking about with the grub screws? I have a Backdraft 3.5 I'd like to convert in to a touring car. Thanks!

pretty sure he won't be replying... but to answer your question - turn your rc over, and look at the a-arms right near the pin that holds them on.  the grub screws would get screwed in  from the top side.

Should see some pre-drilled holes and if you look close - they are threaded.  You'll need the right size grubs (i don't know off hand) but they'll lower the stance of the vehicle as you screw them in, by pressing down (moving the a-arm up) on the palstic mount beneath it.
