Default REDCAT BACK DRAFT 8E RTR??????

HI!... I'm thinking of picking up a REDCAT BACK DRAFT 8E RTR. Just wondering what every one who has bought one thinks of it? I already own a TRAXXAS E-REVO, Tamiya BIGWIGS, DARK IMPACT and just ordered a Traxxas SLASH 4X4.

How is the durability of the BACK DRAFT? Are parts easily available? How does the drivetrain parts hold up? Are there upgrade parts, factory or after market?

Thanks :

Neal.

I don't own a back draft but a lot of the parts are the same. I own a earthquake and an aftershock. I took both of them to the motor bike track this weekend and jumped off of 6ft jumps for about 50 mins, between the two trucks and all i had at the end was a cracked upper suspension arm cap. something that can be glued back together. I was able to drive the truck back to the car. Seems like we dont have the same experiences. I've been very happy with the trucks so far. Between the two trucks I have broken a lid (my bad driving), bent an axle (not surprising), and have to glue the upper suspension arm cap. For the way i drive the trucks i am very impressed.

I dont know how you can tell what "build" or "version" your getting, (maybe they have serial #'s or something on them) but as you can see from Devil's and Fahak's experience, some are good and some are bad.. If you order one, I'd get in contact with the vendor first (someone you can trust if possible, like Kurt at urchobby.com or one of the vendors who frequent this site) and find out if they have the newer ones with updated parts, or if they still have the older versions. (I dont even know if they actually have new versions or if they're just relying on the replacement program for all of them) But they definitely had problems with some of the earlier "ultralight" (backdraft, aftershock, & possibly the earthquake) series of models.. They seem to be taking care of customers with the replacement program, but that can still mean headaches and down time waiting for yourreplacement parts.. It's too bad they dont have the "pro series" in electric, like the Hurricane XTR.. I've not heard of any probs with those, and I know its sister model (Monsoon XTRTruggy)is bad to the bone!!

HI!... Well I bought a BACKDRAFT 8E off E-BAY. Got it from a fellow Canadian out in BC. Guy paid $325(U.S) for it and then spent almost $300(CAN) in hop-ups. Picked it up for $330(CAN). Should be here at the end of next week.

I imagine you can get enough battery to overcome the larger wheels/tires, but I dont know how the drivetrain will hold up with them? Hopefully it'll be one of the tough ones and you'll have more up than down time with it! Looks like a nice ride!! Congrats!!

HI!... Anyone know what size the stock BACKDRAFT 8E rims are? The used one I just bought has huge wheels on it. I'd like to go back to stock. Anyone have a link to them?

Thanks :

Neal.

HI!... Thanks for the links but I already have those links. I need to know the actual size of the rims so I can buy some after market ones the same size. I need a measurement. A number.

HI!... I know it's 1/8 scale, I know it's 17mm hex. My LHS has 5 different diameter wheels for that application. I just want the stock size. Can someone please measure their Backdraft 8E rims and post the measurements.

Thankyou.

HI!... I want to keep the large ones due to they are the exact same size as the ones on my E-REVO, and these ones are brand new.

I just need the size. That's it.

any size will work, you dont need to match stock rim size. find a set that you like and look good on the car.

HI!... O.k apparently you guys are not "UNDERSTANDING". I want to run the "STOCK SIZE" due to the previous owner removed the "STOCK SIZE" to run some huge Truggy wheels. I want to get after market wheels that are the same size as the "STOCK WHEELS". ALL I NEED TO KNOW IS THE STOCK SIZE of the wheel that came stock on the Backdraft 8E. That's all.

DR, I would like to inquire if the wheel bearing that you used in the Traxxas spur gear for the Backdraft 8E was a 5x11x4mm bearing?

i have no idea, i just found the ones that fit with in the spur gear. they are just traxxas wheel spacers . i didnt save the packaging.
and they were not bearings, just like steel almost washers but thicker. my micromoters are at work so i couldnt measure them now. i can try to remember to take one to work and measure it for you. i can also measure with a regular tape for you to later on
