AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!....Receiver caught on FIRE!!!
This past weekend I was running my Earthquake and the starter collar and gear felt out. FortunatelyI ordered two back upssince the gear on thefirst one brokewithin a week. This morning I decided toreplaced the starter panel thinking I would take the truck out for a run when I got home tonight.
Tonight when I got home,I took the receiver battery pack off the charger and plugged it into the receiver and flipped the switch to test it and nothing happens. So I grabbed my other battery pack and still nothing happens. It wasn't picking up a signal from the transmitter.Within 5 seconds smoke started coming out of the receiver compartment. I opened the compartment and all of the sudden the receiver caught on fire with a 2" flame and melted the receiver.
Has anyone had this happen to them before? Idefiinitelydidn't cross polarity soI don't understand why this happened....

I'm guessing you didn't mod the receiver in anyway? That's one Effed up box. I would shoot Redcat an email and let them know. Maybe there have been problems like this in other receivers. [:-]

you didnt accidently plug the batt in the wrong port, or backwards did you ?
at any rate, redcat is pretty good about replacing radio gear. just find their website, look at the bottom where it says support(or warrenty) and you fill out a form. i did that cause my recoil and servo failed. i had replacement parts at my door in a week.
redcat may need to work on their quality control, but their customer service is just as good as some of the bigger RC companies.
