volcano + ice = fun!

took my volcano EPX Pro with a 2s lipo to a frozen pond today.

I forgot my flip camera tho[&:]

My friend was with me...he had a slash 4x4 with a 2s lipo.

on the ice, the volcano was faster (wider tires)

we drove around for 1/2 hour just drifting! We could do HUGE slides while still having control over the direction.

Toward the end we wanted to see who could drift closest to the shore.(obvious bad idea)

We each got too close a couple of times and slammed into the frozen shore.

The 4th time i hit the shore i broke a rear hub.

2 minutes later my friend broke his slash's rear hub, a RPM hub no less!

Thats what we get for driving in 25 degree weather.

It was a crap load of fun, and ill try to go back soon and get video!

Sounds like Ibetter get my Backdraft put back together. I wonder if I can find ice smooth enough for my Lightning..

It's been a really warm winter here so far so nothing is frozen over yet. I doubt we'll be so lucky in January.

i have a used backdraft 8e i bought coming next week!

as long as your models are electric you should be fine....some places might not like you driving anything gas powered on a pond or lake for fear it could fall threw and pollute the water.

The pond i was on is already 4-6 inches thick. Been really cold here for a few days.

a lightening could be fun as long as its smooth. Ponds work best IMO, water tends to freeze up and be smoother. the ice i was on was smooth enough for a car...only unsmooth by the edges.

We were basically drifting out volcano and slash...so a drift car would make sence...lol

Its spitting snow right now, so the ice may be covered by snow the next time i get out there.

But i also have a brushless stampede VXL with massive spiked tires and custom skiis!
