Single vs. 2 Speed? Anyone plz help??

I no this might be a stupid or dumb question but what is the difference between the Single Speed and 2 Speed?
I have a 2 speed Caldera 3.0
Is there any difference from top speed, torque, etc.. that a single speed might have?
Sorry, I'm new to the world of NItro RC Cars.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Just like in a real car, your motor makes the most torque and power at a certain RPM. With a 2 speed gearbox, the first gear can be short enough to help you accelerate off the line, and then shift in to 2nd for a higher top speed.

In my experience a single speed is best for a nitro beginer hobbiest. They are easier to maintain and tune.

They problem with a lot of two speeds is 1, ) the motor has to be tuned spot on for it to reach a good RPM for it to make the trans shift into second. 2.) Even if you get it to shift into second you might not have enough power to use 2nd gear viably.

So unless you feel really confident in your nitro tuning my opinion is to go with a single speed trans until you are very comfy with it then move up.
