earthquake 3.5 gear mesh
lI was just wondering how the earthquake 3.5 likes its gear mesh? cuz like with many others my plastic gear stripped during break in, so i replaced with a steel one, im guessing bad move cuz i was jumping it today and a tooth on the bell gear actually broke right off XD so i was wondering if it likes it tight or loose? my tornado S30 loves it tight, used to strip spurs all the time and now i havent had it strip in almost a year :D

RE: earthquake 3.5 gear mesh
for me, the ideal mesh allows a piece of paper between the teeth.
standard printer paper works best. put the paper between the teeth and push it tight then lock the motor in place. remove the paper and see how it feels. If it is too tight, repeat the process but this time double up the paper (different pitch gears require different amounts of spacing) The idea is to always have the gears JUST far enough apart for them to spin freely. Also, with any model its important to let off the throttle before it lands (from a jump) Landing with the throttle on can shred gears whether the gear mesh is good or not! |
