Brushless motors
Can I put a 4074 motor in my red cat racing volcano epx pro, if so is that the fastest red cat racing brushless motor there is?

RE: Brushless motors
I don't have a Volcano (HSP), but Ido have a Caldera 10E (BSD), and I think you'll run into the same problems I have. Looking at the Volcano chassis it looks like the regualr 3650 motor is already almost right up against the central aluminum chassic brace, so you're probably stuck with a 36mm-diameter can:

So, Idon't own one, but from the pictures Ithink you could fit a 3660 motor in there unmodified, or go as long at a 3674 if you're willing to Dremel some clearance out of the chassis. That's what I'm going to do with my Caldera. |

Could I put a traxxas stampede motor in my volcano epx pro? I'm kinda new to this.

RE: Brushless motors
ORIGINAL: nitrosportsandrunner not certain what you mean by a 4074 motor. ORIGINAL: 1969elcamino Could I put a traxxas stampede motor in my volcano epx pro? I'm kinda new to this. A cheap upgrade for a noticable bump in speed would be something like this Tacon 4000kv: though it's a bit overspec for your speed control and may cause it to run hot. For that price you can afford to give it a try. |
RE: Brushless motors
I had a vxl motor in a volcano i used to own. the vxl fits same as the stock motor.
the titan 12t brushed motor will fit if you take the metal sleeve(what thas the label on it) off. |

Thanks everyone and how do you tell the wheel and tire size.

RE: Brushless motors
ORIGINAL: 1969elcamino Thanks everyone and how do you tell the wheel and tire size. The hex is a 12mm (the back part of the wheel) and this is pretty standard. most 1/10 scale tires have a 12mm hex. Many people use traxxas stampede tires (talons) or proline masher 2000's. |

Does anyone know how to get better traction?

RE: Brushless motors
ORIGINAL: 1969elcamino Does anyone know how to get better traction? some tires simply work better on certain surfaces. you can stiffen the rear shocks with pre-load spacers. this will keep the weight from shifting to the rear as much...thus keeping the front tires having better contact with the ground. |
