Has anyone put a brushless motor in a Lightning Epx drift car?

I would love to upgrade my current car to brushless. If anyone has done this, let me know what size motor, did you have to upgrade your esc, if not, will the current esc handle a lipo battery set up? Thanks for your time!

If you go with a brushless motor you will need a brushless speed control as well. Your current ESC will handle up to 3S with an 18T brushed motor, and 2S LiPo packs with up to a 12T brushed motor if it's the HW-WP-1040 ESC. Just look at other drift platforms out there with brushless setups in them. You would probably be looking at a 10.5T brushless motor. Different brands have different kv ratings...anywhere from 3300kv~3800kv.

I've used HobbyWing EZRun ESC/brushless motor combo, Speed Passion combos, and love them both (linked above). I have not used SkyRC's ESCs as of yet. I've been meaning to get one, but currently I'm running super low budget 60A & 120A ESCs with super budget no-name brushless motors. I would not recommend, and I'm not gonna link my super low budget gear for people starting out in the hobby.

If you think 10.5T brushless are too much power, then have a look at some 13.5T brushless motors. Like I said before, I only looked at some other brushless drifting platforms to get an idea of what's used in RTRs.

If I go this route, am I definitely looking at a lipo battery set up?
